One of my friends was burning up a Dwarf Prince as a back up character should his Orc meet an untimely demise. (is there really any other type of demise for Orcs?). In the final stages he is going about buying his weapons like a good little battle prince, and he ask me a question.
Dwarven Arms are all considered superior quality arms. He wanted to wield a single handed ax. The only ax listed under the superior quality list is the "Sweet Ax" which is a two handed hunk of bring the pain. Now he likes the Sweet Ax and all it's fun stats. But he laments it's two handed nature.
Is there some rule about upgrading run of the mill stats to superior stats that I missed? Is the answer as simple as make our own stats for a one handed superior quality ax? If that is the case, any advice for a newbie GM on what these stats should be?
Help, as usual, is greatly accepted.

There are no rules for creating your own weapons, per se. Rumor has it, the Dwarven Art, War Art, has mechanics for creating a variety of weapons and armor.

Shields are for sissies. No self respecting Dwarven Prince wades into battle with anything other than both his hands placed firmly on his Axe or Hammer. Hence, Dwarven craftsmen only go the extra mile to make superior quality weapons for the badasses, wimps get left with the scraps.
If your player's Dwarven Prince eats his spinache, gets into the odd wrestling contest with a troll, and says his prayers at night--he may even end up with a 7+ power to go along with his Sweet Axe. And than my friend, he can revel in the wailing of his enemies.

I will in my best "Dwarven Accent" relay the Horseman's message as verbatim as possible. That should shame him in to going with the bigger guns.
This may even prompt him to drop his Shield Training. Which means he can drop more points in to accounting like he wanted.
Thanks for the help guys.

Well crap dude...you didn't tell us he had accounting as well. In that case he definitely needs the shield. Its a very handy place to hang your ledgers from to be reviewed whilst under combat duress.

GM> "Bah, Shields are for Sissies!"
Player> Okay, I drop Shield Training and spend the two skill points on... Accountancy.
In my group, the only appropriate response would be laughter from everyone, possibly excluding the player in question.

Well, I didn't want to make such a big deal out of the accounting thing. He was a little sensitive that I made him buy a Dwarven Accountant War Visor rather than the Dwarven Mask. He really had his heart set on that flame resistant armor.... But I think the fact the Visor gives him a +1D when calculating his holds tax returns should counter balance nicely.

Resources are serious business to Dwarves.
