I'm bending the rules a little bit by taking a lead to Outcast from Foot Soldier, but I think that it's justified.

-----

The village of Aldo was, and is, ruled by the Dupree noble family. The family is notoriously greedy, and each Baron of the land seems worse than the next. Crushing taxes have kept the entire province in a state of perpetual poverty for as long as anyone can remember. Aldo is a run-down slum, with few travellers and even less commerce. Wars are common with neighboring baronies, and although land very seldomly changes hands, there is always plenty of bloodshed.

It was into this village that Dorath was born. Like most in the village, he was born into the life of a poor farmer. From dawn to dusk, he worked in the Baron's fields, ekeing out a subsistence life. Occasionally, one of his older brothers would be conscripted into the Baron's army to fight in one of the many wars with the neighboring provinces. They were never heard from again. Before long, it was Dorath's turn to become a soldier.

In his first battle, Dorath charged forward with his brigade into the fray and fought with exceptional skill and ferocity. He survived the day, but his days as a fighter were by no means over. Lord Dupree retained Dorath as a professional soldier for a time. Life as a fighter whetted his appetite for combat and danger, and the barony of Dupree slowly began to expand. Though the nobles prospered, Dorath and the other soldiers had to survive on the same meager salary.

Frustrated, Dorath and a small group of followers abandoned their barracks late at night and fled as far as they could. After two weeks of running, Dorath settled down in a suitably distant land. The group became a company of hired mercenaries. Dorath began to call himself 'The Hawk', and sold his services as a fighter to various causes. Men joined him, left him, and died off, but Dorath continued to lead them. The membership of The Hawk's Company was fluid, but Dorath himself always survived.

Very Cool! Like I noted in the other posting, I think it is accepted that the Soldier Setting should have more Leads to Outcast, anyway - certainly the Footsoldier should get it!

The only mistake I noticed is that Hoarding should be a Trait. But this is good - that's 1 extra skill point to stick into Cooking!

To sorta drift, I also think the Scout is an easy target for Outcast. He goes off on his own... and it's always easy to just run away if you gotta. Deserting = Outcasting.
