Would you think it acceptable to share Resource Points during character burning?
I was thinking about creating a city campaign in which the PCs are a gang of thieves. Such characters have little resources so I figured why not allow them to pool a portion of the points in order to get a hideout. In this way, they all feel like its theirs to begin with and one shmoe doesn't need to blow his entire wad on it and not end up with anything else, like clothes.

That actually sounds like a cool idea. Basically, everyone has an ownership stake in the hideout. I would allow it in my game.
i actually suggest a mechanic for this in Under a Serpent Sun, so I'm game.

Yeah, Luke's always game when it comes to ideas he's already come up with.
I have to wonder - are you just pooling this stuff for land? Or can the party, for instance, buy a contact as a group? Or an affiliation as a group?

I don't think contacts ought to be bought in this way. Contacts seem more personal to me. The same for Affiliations. It's one person's membership you are buying. You aren't actually creating the affiliation.
But, I don't see why other kinds of gear can't be bought by one and given to another, especially if they are family or friends.

Like a particular body guard of sorts... btw thanks for the chainmail again.
And hello from Japan to everyone. (I know you are all jealous)

I suppose I should clarify my previous post a touch.
In Eru's game both Yagathi and I made new characters. To make their integration into an already formed party a little easier we linked their histories just a touch. In the end we decided that my character acted as a sort of body guard for his and my benefactor issued me a set of chainmail to further my use to him.
