It's semi-official (no info on the Origins awards website yet). We have the statue already. Thanx to Paul Tevis (Have Games Will Travel) and Fred Hicks (FATE / Spirit of the Century) for being at the awards ceremony and picking the statue / making a speech for us, as we all were running and playing games at the time.

Also a big THANK YOU to all the people who voted for us during the con.

You ROCK.

I just got back from an overwhelming, awesome Origins. I did three book sketches (one featuring Dro's favorite hat), kibbitzed from the sidelines during an inspired Abzu firefight demo, got all of the dirt on The Blossoms are Falling from Thor, Dro and Luke. Voted for BE's Origins award (along with my brother and every gaming buddy I could round up).

The great moment came during a very late game of Arkham Horror with my crew in the convention hall lobby, when my cell phone rang and Luke screamed "We won best RPG of the year!" I gave my friends the thumbs up, and they cheered, making everyone in the lobby look at us like we were maybe in need of being escorted from the building by security.

It was an awesome moment. Congrats to Luke and everyone who worked so hard to make BE such an incredible game.

I feel privileged to have hitched a ride.

Chris

Drozdal called and gave me the news and it was the best moment of a very awesome day in NYC.

MANY THANKS to all the people who voted for Burning Empires at the origins awards! Y'all supporting the game, playing it, and sharing it with others has made this possible.

Thanks all! I really didn't have anything to do with this one. It was all you! I was probably more shocked than anyone else when we won! Go team!

Sorry for being late...

That was lucky edition - firstly, because you win the award and crush enemy`s disposition (f.e. exalted). Moreover - it seems to be stupid, but i`ll remember from this edition one thing - when we believe dreams will come true. One more thing - this is the best opportunity to set Poland on FIRE! You`ve got game, fame and award (uh - in my country game which has an award has ten times more chances to be noticed than others). And you`ve got small group of hidden infiltrators ;)

Congratulations from rainy Poland!

I actually got a statuette of Calliope for this one.

The fact you wanted to put a dirty Sanchez on the statuette so quickly speaks volumes of the inner workings of your mind....

God DAMN, I missed this one for a whole fucking month. I just found about this today when catching up with Paul Tevis' Have Games, Will Travel podcast; he's talking about Origins with Hanrahan, Hicks and Hite when all of a sudden, seven minutes in, he's like, "Coolest moment: Giving Luke his Origins Award for BE!" and I'm all like, "Whsikey tango foxtrot?"

Luke, will you put a link up on the BE splash page or something, maybe even feature that "Origins Award Winner" diamond graphic I'm seeing elsewhere? I mean, seriously: BRAG, man! take that diamond thingy and slap it on the cover (all right, rear if you must) of the next printing! I, me for God's sake, just went and updated the Awards section of your Wiki, and I am SO tempted to change the main page to read, "Welcome to the Official Wiki of the 2007 Origins Award-winning Burning Empires"! To plagiarise Gerrold, all this humility bullshit just cheats the rest of us of the opportunity to experience your awesomeness!

My buddy from 9th Level Games informed me of this after Origins and I cheered wildly. Many congrats, and completely deserved. Playing BE has brought back the love for me and my group.

It's not humility, Rob. It's a combination of lack of support from Origins (it took two weeks to get the web graphic), and lack of time due to blossoms.

Bastards.

There's no one I can complain to, is there? Or did you already sic Dro on them?

Speaking of Dro: If you're reading this, man, I loved hearing about you and the Jungle Adventure! save-game on that podcast. That was great!

What? Am I famous now?

Ps. What "that podcast" was called?

What? You weren't before? :-D

Ah. "That podcast" is Have Games, Will Travel episode 95 (http://www.havegameswilltravel.net/index.php?post_id=234222). Jungle Adventure! comes up around thirty-eight minutes in, roughly half an hour after "We gave Luke a statue!".

Hot! Thanx for the linkage.

Btw. I ran that Inspecters game with with Nathan and Fred, Thor and Alexander that had a parrot demon in it ;)
