Well, I bought Burning Empires last week;

found the websites and looked at Jihad but knew I couldn't work it in without shading and BW Fight! rules;

got my copy of BW and CB tonight from Bridgetown Hobbies here in Portland;

now I'm reading about some Far Eastern mythic material for BW at 4 in the morning. How meaty is this supplement, and is it really evocative? As a kid I read Hearn's translated ghost stories and such, can I do this with the supplement?

ABSOLUTELY (with some caveats). In preparation for The Blossoms Are Falling, I read the Tales of the Otori books (well, I'm about halfway through the fourth one) for inspiration. The books seem to be set a little after the Blossoms period, but it's close enough --- except for The Tribe. The Tribe, though they're never called such, are clearly ninjas. There's no real analog for that in Blossoms. However, the rest of the stories could be recreated near-perfectly using Blossoms...
