I just noticed tonight that Precision Training and Sprinting Training are not included in Blossoms. Is there any particular reason for that, or did they just not seem suited to the setting?

Has anyone else found anything unexpected like this?

Daniel

It's also hard to run and do anything accurately with 5+ layers of clothing.

Sprinting is Shamefull!

Only if you're sprinting away! I've never seen more sprinting in a movie than Seven Samurai!

Actually, it looked a lot less like sprinting and more like waddling. Maybe I should look for waddling training.

I also just watched Kwaidan and Onmyoji. Nobody waddled in those movies. Maybe waddling wasn't invented yet.

In Blossoms, sprinting toward your enemy is shameful. One must approach one's enemy with proper etiquette and courtesy.

They guy they had playing Abe no Seimei, Mansai Nomura, moved like a supernatural creature. It was awesome.

Now now. I stopped abusing Precision Training back in Classic days. =P

One more thing: if the Seven Samurai were the correct period, it wouldn't be considered shameful to run at the enemy because the enemy consisted of bandits. There's no honor in killing scum like that, but there's no need for niceities either.

I understand he's quite an exquisite dancer. I'm looking forward to Onmyoji II as I hear he displays a bit of it in the film. In any case, I completely agree. The guy had grace in everything he did.

I wasn't expecting this to be a terribly serious conversation, but let's go with what you're saying here.

I understand the differences between both the period and the opponents in the examples. However, I can't imagine it'd be any more shameful to sprint at bandits in the Heian era than in later periods. In addition, what's to keep two bandits from sprinting at (or away from) each other or samurai?

I'm cool with the omission, and I completely believe it was purposeful. I was mostly just curious as to whether it was because the two skills have a strong potential for, er, overuse? Or some other reason.

Daniel

Nothing. Bandits don't have Honor. There's no need to treat them honorably and no expectation of honorable treatment from them. There's no real honor in fighting them either.

Exactly my point! Nothing, that is, apart from the lack of the skill.

But I'm completely fine with that. I'd hate to see bandits kicking the tar out of provincial warriors because they all have a bonus positioning die. ;)

Ah, I just saw your note, Dro. Don't worry -- all of my warriors will mince into combat with honour.
