Hey, I'm in Greensboro. Anyone in my area want to get together to play some Burning Wheel?
Hi Rindu,
There's a lot of BW players in Charlotte, but I don't know how many in Greensboro. However, my brother lives in Greensboro. He's 13, but he's a pretty experienced BW player. Of course, he doesn't have an email account so I can't send you his way...

Cool. I'd love to game with you if you ever come down to visit with your bro...(and btw, is this Hart, the one you dedicated BW to?)
Munchkin: Charlotte is a bit far, really. I'll have to wait and see.
On a positive note, I showed BW to a friend tonight and he is definitely interested in playing now.

Rock on.
I'm in Morrisville, about an hour away. Let's plan on meeting at NC Gameday at Raleigh naxt month and get some Burning Wheel going on. Since I'm one of the organizers, I PROMISE it'll be worth the trip, possibly even moreso than MACE in Greensboro. If only for the reason that we can play Burning Wheel!
Plus Jeff Schecter, who wrote Pagoda for the No Press Anthology, will most likely be there as well.
Rock on.

Here we go:
NC Game Day V will be held on Saturday, September 25 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Talley Student Center in Raleigh, NC.

You can feel free to sign up to run/host a game there, but there's tons of free gaming space to be had.
Basically, NC Gameday is an effort originally started by the EnWorld crowd to have local meets about 3 times a year. Then, the Trinoc-Con (me incl) staff got involved to streamline it, add more events, and make it cool. The last NC Gameday I went to rocked. I got to play all sorts of stuff.
Oh, BTW, I have a standing offer for a room if anyone is thinking of heading out to Gameday but doesn't want to drive all the way back home, or want to crash the night before, etc.
Finally, there's MACE, a convention in Greensboro, that I plan on going to for maybe a few hours, but only if other folks go too (RPGNet, The Forge, Burning Wheel, etc).
MACE 2004 · Radisson Hotel, High Point, NC · November 12-14, 2004

The only prob with MACE:
NC Gameday: Totally f*cking free. Great location, too.
MACE: Nice hotel and all, but standard convention rates: $20 (even for just a single day), $30 at the door. Normally it doesn't phase me cause I can just run events and lower the bill to nothing, but I'm kinda busy these days and don't want to take on extra stress.
Though, on the other hand, Luke DID mention stopping by to see his folks. If he can aim at one of those events, it would be.... very interesting.
Very cool! I have to check my calendar (read: ask the fianceé, our wedding is in October, so weekends are arrangement time), but I would love to come up from Charlotte for a BW game.

Looks like I'll be able to make it to NC Gameday. Any further thoughts on having a BW game?

Rock on, let's do this!
Next Question: Are you comfortable with running something, or do you want me to?
Here's what I was thinking: Open session, 5-6 players or so (maybe more if we can get our hands on one of Luke's con adventures with the Dwarves and Elves). I want lotsa energy- GM shouldn't be sitting. Lots of hyperbole, lots of social actions as well as combat actions, etc. I want to create a commotion, a stir. I want the folks gathering around their D&D minis and hexmats to look up and ask themselves "What the F*CK are they playing over there? Why are they having so much fun?"
Do you think you'd be up for this? If not, I can. I'd just need to bone up on the rules a bit first. Then again, I DO have a month to plan.
And let me know if you want to crash here. It's totally cool. Though I do have cats (hope no one is allergic). Same goes to anyone else in NC who may be reading this- Join in, we should have some fun!
Also, for the record, I plan on running a game of The Riddle of Steel, and possibly run or sit in on another game of something else, anything.

I'm with you on rockin' the house. To be honest, I'd rather play than GM. My strengths are in world-building/story-line development not story telling. So if your game that would be great, though if its too much on you (with the other games/ con organizing) let me know.

I appreciate the invite. As of now I'm planning on heading back to the Queen City afterwards, but thanks anyway. I'll see if I can't stir any of my semi-regular gaming group into joining us.
I'll send you my email via PM so we can discuss further.
