Easy question to anyone who deals with this in game.

We're playing a cyberpunk game so the majority of combat is done via handguns. My question is:

1. Every time there's combat do we go to Range & Cover? We had a situation where it was the 3 PC's versus 3 goons in a bar in the middle of the day. They were like 5 feet apart when it started.

2. If you don't go to R&C, how do you deal with positioning for the firearms? Or don't you?

Neil, Why not use the Firefight rules? They work really well!

And if it's just a quick engagement, use the I Corner Him and Stab Him in the Face rules.

I was thinking about this. You can do a firefight with a versus test, nice and simple. But if you want something more complicated, do Range and Cover. But don't help each other. Do the firefights as one on one. When you take out your dude, you can can positon against the other guys.

Of course, I think the mini Firefight rules in Burning Empires would serve best for this, but what do I know?

They're in Burning Empires, which is a separate game. I believe Fox is using a mash-up of BW and BE rules for his game. At least I seem to recall some discussion to that effect.
