In response to Eruditus question over at the Monsterburner
here:http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=326

my answer is:

I stole them.

or rather I was inspired by a swedish rpg called Drakar og Demonar 6, where they have returned to the nordic feel when it comes to fantasy (as opposed to the semi-democratic western european feel so predominant in our hobby).
Here:www.riotminds.com
Particulary by the illustrations and information in their monster manual, where the artist Peter Bergting fueled my imagination.

Taking my cue from monster descriptions there I took the chattle and orc lifepaths from the character burner and developed my own from those.
This is quite easy as you just shuffle some skills, come up with an evocative new name and bob is your troll.

As I played around with these beasties, several important ideas about my game-world, Miranna, solidified futher. http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=310

As these elements combined I focused on the following points:
1. The trolls are creatures of the Shadow.
they were made by him to act as his servants.
2. They are evil
trolls should have no redeeming features.
3. They are bred for war.
no families, all trolls are spawned in horrid locations called (suprisingly  ) spawning pits.

Then I wrote their history, the Torognaergon and put them in play.

Overall I kept them within the mood and the theme of my world which I found important, while creating traits from the text in the riotminds books and the "nordic" feel.

Does this "self-gratious see how brilliant I am post" answer your question?

Very cool... but, uh, is there an english version. i am a little rusty on my svedish-norwegian-finnish-whatever-that-is.

I did love the illustrations and the feel.

Reminds me of RUNE (the computer and book game)

Hmmm...BW RUNE....

Their focus apparently is on the scandinavian market

RUNE is a more, how to put it , pure Hack Slash computer/rpg game with big massive axes and swords.
DoD6 is more realitstic, which is why is melds so beautifully with BW.

No massive axe of goblin decapitation here.

Just runes and deep mysterious forests.

Like you said though shame about the language. You might want to check out www.bergting.com for similar inspiration, plus he has links to many other great fantasy artist.

got to work not post,
