"If she increases the pressure there is another versus test: Power or skill vs. Natural Defenses Power."

Now, if the locker fails in this test, is the lock broken, or is it just the case that the strength of the lock is not increased?

"To break the Lock, the defender must generate more successes on his Power test than the current total successes of the Lock."

I believe that this means that any successes from inceasing the pressure of the Lock are added to the original number of successes. Thus, increasing the pressure makes it more difficult to escape.

Just wanted to make sure I understood...

You have a good understanding of the Lock, yes.

I roll my power and get 4 successes. You roll your Natural Defense and get 2 successes. I now have you in a two die Lock.

I want to incapacitate you and so script a second Lock. I roll my power and get no successes. You roll your ND and get 1 success. I now have you in a 1 die lock. Should you have gotten 2 successes, the Lock would have been broken.

Or, I have you in a two die lock and I lock you again. You script Break Lock. I roll 1 success on my Power and increase the lock to 3 dice. You roll your ND and get 1 success, reducing the Lock to 2 dice. Then, you roll your Break Lock and get 3 successes! You have completely broken the lock. Congratulations!

As you see, the advantage is usually with the Defender. This is intentional. Without this edge, Locks become really, really powerful.
