Sorry about all these posts! I have lots of questions after that first combat session, and I'm so excited about the game at this point.

Another player was playing Gravas. At one point, she asked if she could grab Dunif's hammer away from him. I had no idea how to deal with this. My initial though was that she ought to Get Inside and Lock him, then we would do a Power vs. Power test, maybe.

But what if someone is thrusting a spear at me, and I want to grab it? Say, grab it, then throw the person? "Grabbing a pen out of someone's hand" is an Agility Test (p.30) But a spear or hammer is much larger than a pen...hmmm.....

By the way, I think it's interesting that the Scripting system brings out such creativity in players. One would think that people might say, "Oh, I can only do the things on this list...." Instead, it's liberating!

There is an action on the script sheet called Disarm. This move will result in exactly what your players desired.

You script a Block. I script a Disarm. I roll my weapon skill or Brawling with an Obstacle equal to your skill. If I succeed, I can either take your weapon or send it skidding across the floor.

Even easier, there is the Counter-Disarm. You script Strike. I script Counter-Disarm. Now, my obstacle is equal to only HALF of your skill in order to disarm you!

What happens to the weapon after its disarmed? Is it just as easy to take the weapon you disarmed as it is to dislodge it in the first place?

It's totally up to the player to tell us what happens to the weapon, in my opinion. After all, he's just pulled off a very difficult maneuver! He should be rewarded with a little control. Personally, I'd choose to spin the disarmed weapon around my own and then fling it out of reach. However, putting that weapon in my off-hand doesn't sound too bad either. There should be no mechanics at that point, just whatever is cool to the player.

I think if I were running it, I would only let them get away with actually grabbing the weapon if they exceeded the Obstacle by a decent amount. Two or three dice at least. However, I would probably give some leeway to characters with the Spectacular or Graceful traits.
