I thought I'd start this thread for everyone to post ther most munchkin PC that they can create/justify under the rules.

I'll start off with the Uber-Swordsman PC

Background:

Eric was born in a peasant hovel where he traveled around with his peddler parents until some bad people came through and killed them all.

He then managed to somehow join the army as a scout and during his service he saved the life of some important noble dude who made him a cavalryman.

He is now out of the army and seeks adventure.

(To be honest his background isn't that important - It's all about justifying your lifepath choices to the GM so that you can create a combat machine)

Lifepaths:
Peasant Born, Peddler, Scout, Cavalrymanx2
Age: 25

Attributes:
Per: B4 Will: B4 Agi: B6 Speed: B5 Power: B4 Forte: B4
Health: B4 Reflexes: B5 Mortal Wound: 10 Hesitation:6 Steel: B6

Skills:
Throwing: B4
Inconspicious: B3
Brawling: B3
Knives: B4
Falsehood: B3
Haggleing: B3
Mend: B3
Riding: B2
Stealthy: B4
Sword: G6

armour
mounted combat
observation

Traits:
Affinity: Sword
Disturbingly large mouth
Extra digit (six fingers on the right hand)

Beliefs:
After you kill things you must take thier stuff
There is no problem my sword can't resolve
If it has nothing to do with swordfighting, it's not worth my time

Instincts:
Never drop my sword
Never drop valuable stuff I just took
I always have a weapon on me

Resources:
Eric has 31 points - which shoould all be spent on the best weapons and armor.

Under no circumstances should any points be spent on contacts. He is a loner who is in it for the money, and a smart player wouldn't want to give the GM ways to screw with his character.

What can ya'll come up with??

How many lifepaths we talkin' here?

::eyeing 2598 year old elf::

Jaeger

As many as you can squeeze in.

But,
No self respecting munchkin would play someone who didn't take full advantage of the starting age and attributes chart...

So human types should stop at 25 years - elves when they first hit 1326 years - dwarves at 245 years

Let the good times roll...

One last question... Can we use Lifepaths posted here on the net?

anything on the BW website is fair game - after all it's "official" isn't it? and munchkins are all about being official.

Jaeger - why didn't you start born noble and continue to knight? That would give you shield use, as well as a few extra resources to use for munchkin type contacts (black powder smugglers in every city, poison brewers, that kind of thing).

It's all about the trait points...
Had I done what you suggested= No sword affinity - no large mouth (I was planning on useing this as a call on trait) - and I would not get to be the six fingered man! (Inconceivable!)

plus I would have been shy an extra physical point for my stats - an unacceptable alternative!

(besides no one ever plays up social class anyways, it's all about killing things and taking thier stuff!)

COmE ON! That's the best you can do with a 25 yr old munchkin character?

I could take him out with a 3 LP Born Peasant>Farmer>Bandit.

sheesh. If you're going to do it, do it right.

Munchkining BW is not hard, but it is a lot of fun.

Flexor hurts my head when I look at him. Ouchie. Did I make those LPs?

Muaha... while I see the subtle cheating beneath his humble veneer... i think he's just a good character. he needs a cheating trait!

for those of you who don't know our slang: cheating = good.

Yeah, I couldn't believe Flexor myself! Most of the Black Barbarian LPs are only a year or two each! Cowabunga!

As for Muaha, yes, his cheating is subtle, but, oh, so powerful. First off, I gave him the Speed of 5 so that I can wear armor on my legs and my reaction won't be slowed. I thought I did take cheating Traits especially considering his modus operundi. Both Dreadful and Booming Voice are Intimidation boosters! The idea is to wound you in combat, Intimidate you in order to force a Hesitation, demand a surrender, then land the killing blow! Gah! As an experienced scripter, this scared the poop out of me!

why Fleet of Foot? or conversely, why waste all those points on a War Mount and Mounted Combat if you're going to be a footman?

-L

Kublai
07-08-2004, 10:41 AM
First off, I had to take Mounted Combat as per the knight LP (I think!). Also, the 12 points from the War Mount couldn't buy me Superior nothing, so why not add some further punch to my battles?

I took Fleet of Foot because I know most adventures do not allow for much horse-riding action. I do know, however, that most adventures involve either chasing or running! Thus, Fleet of Foot.

Hmm. To my mind munchkin potential doesn't top out at 25.
Fear the AARP company in the Burning Whell army! Those
guys at 60 - 65 years old can really rack up the stats and
they get great skill and treait points too.

this is just dreadful.

You're destroying my belief that BW is a munchkin save system.

Have fun guys.
I'll come up with one in the following days.

Kublai

Let free the munchkin in you, Manicrack! :D

Although these characters are fairly munchkiny, Muaha will still die from a single bow shot.

DAMN YOU, BW!!!

If I hadn't failed my Will Save against purchasing the PDF so badly you guys would be doing a good job of dissuading me. Yesh.

Of course, as somebody else once said, "The problem lies not in the rules, the problem lies in the players." :P
