So, as a character, I do a lot of sprinting. Which means that I do a lot of other stuff WHILE sprinting - like Nocking Arrow, Drawing Bow, Drawing Weapon, etc.

I spotted somewhere in the BW book that tasks that normally wouldn't require tests may require them under specific circumstances (and I think it references drawing a weapon while sprinting). So let me ask everyone out there - how do you handle it in your game? And if you assign a penalty, do you use a set Sprint penalty or does the Ob penalty change based on action?

We're relatively new to BW so I want to make sure that we set the right precident for ourselves.

While sprinting in combat, you receive a +4 Ob to any action besides Charging. Sometimes, when Drawing a Weapon or Nocking an Arrow while Sprinting, it's justified to ask for an Agility Test at Ob 2 or 3. Failure means dropping that item.

Sprinting is supposed to be a arms pumping, head bent, knees to chin, flat out run in a single direction. If your players don't imagine their character's doing this, then they're probably jogging.

Only been playing a while but I would just put a OB1 on all things that your doing while sprinting unless you're being shot at.

May your sword stay sharp! :D

Sprinting adds +4 to all your obstacles. If you're doing something that is normally zero Ob, then sprinting bumps that up to Ob 4. Stuff like drawing a sword or knocking an arrow.

If you take your time (using the Patiently rules) you can drop that by one.

So my next question would be when Jogging/Dashing or Sprinting, the rules indicate that the penalty to hit that person is 1/4 and 1/2 of their Speed respectively.

So if the Jogger has a Speed of 6, that means that the penalty to hit him is +1.5 Ob - round up or round down when it comes to these rules?

In BW, when applying a penalty like that, always make it as unfavorable as possible. So, round up.

When giving bonus dice to players, always give the benefit of the doubt and round up. In stances, for example.

When factoring the Incidental Wound tolerance, round up.

In all other cases (I think), round down.
