Why isnt there a substantial world that The Burning Wheel can be set in? Like in other games where there is already a world to play in but you can still make your own???

You can pretty much use any fantasy world as a setting for Buring Wheel. I'm currently working on using BW for an upcoming Warhammer (WFRP) game. I was going to post what I had so far but the forums don't take html tables.

No world that I come up with is going to be as good as the one's in your head. Likewise, how could I possibly match the beauty of Tolkien, Robert E Howard, Ursula Le Guin or Stephen R Donaldson?

I can recreate their particular feel, but nothing of my own is going to come close.

So rather than bog the game down with a lot of useless crap, I decided to provide instead an implicit philosophy and order of things that can easily be attached to any realm of your imagination.

Personally, I think it worked fine.

I"ve run a standard fantasy game and a Star Wars game using BW, I also played in Robin Hood game (although my PC pulling off a OB12 miracle drastically changed the usual story). In most games that would be three separate books I had to buy. Of course I could have spent the time fleshing out my fantasy campaign and devoloping ranged and starship combat rules working more and had extra cash to buy books that covered those topics....
: ) always a trade-off I suppose.
