This is the discussion thread. Surprise!
Got to go with the guy with the axe, in this one (even if he is already dead;) ). Not having VA or any FoRK possibilities is going to hinder Gnaeus, I think.

Dead? What is this dead you speak of? The nurse you already foresaw in the vision DID show up. The sergeant's sister is much more... accomodating. ;)

My 1.1 rolls are up.
Do I need to tell you about this or are you notified somehow that I've edited?

So's mine. (At least, A1).
You could notify me, but generally around this time I'll be checking often. How about you? Do you want to get notified?

I'll just check periodically.

Too bad I didn't take that Relationship, I'd probably get some Artha!

Some things are a little off in the last exchange, I think.
1. I don't think your block was successful. You got 2s, but you needed 2s over ob (sorry if I was unclear), and you've got +1 Ob from your Supie. So I think my strike's coming in with 1s (which means you'll probably take it on the chest).
2. You got some 1's on that block, but it's not clear which dice were the 'shield dice' (I've made the same mistake myself). I assume the last dice are the shield dice, which means, no shield degradation for you. I looked over the fight but didn't see any other 1s, so we're still correct as to armor values, I think.
This may change your posted exchange (feel free to totally redo it), so let's fix this first before I put mine up.

1) The Block... interesting. I didn't realise that Block had an obstacle - as far as I can remember, it's never explicitly mentioned in the rules. I.e. I thought it was an Open Test where you just counted successes.
Looking at this thread:
http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2437&highlight=block+obstacle
it's clear that my wound penalty reduces my Block success by 1, giving me (at most) 1s which isn't enough to stop you.
What I'm not clear about is whether my Block scored 1 or 0 net successes. If I've got 1, I chose location, otherwise you do.
Chest is offered, in any case.
2) Sorry about the shield dice, will distinguish next time.

No worries on the shield dice, I didn't do it myself either. For me, all bonus dice are allways at the end of the roll, in this order: base skill, fork(s), other bonus (read: shield bonus). If it gets whacky, I'll label them clearly.
Open tests get the number of sucs reduced based on the +Ob.
1s on the block is not enough to stop me, but you do reduce my attack by 1, leaving me with 1s, which will go to where you offer - your chest.
Roll those armor dice! VA 1.

Ok, got it - Block is Open Test. Open Tests have no actual Ob, but Ob penalty reduces successes.
Shields - I'll use same protocol as you, shield dice are rightmost.
Also, I'll offer chest always until further notice.

I don't quite get your comment on B&S - I have 4D skill + 3D shield, and 4 block 3 strike is valid - there is 1D skill on each side. This becomes 3 block 3 strike when I actually block against VA1.
Since I know what weapon you'll be using, I'll start treating the shield as 2D all the time. So I'll write 3b,3s next time.

Ah! I guess we mean the same thing. Sorry.
