Hey,

in my "Gift" game, an issue came up. Basically, one player wanted to give a helping die to a test (I think it was even in the DoW) and another player wanted to use intimidation to stop the first player from helping. At that time, I vetoed the attempt so that I wouldn't get a slew of "I stop him from stopping him from helping" kind of intents. But in a normal game, would that be possible?

I'm thinking yes, but then again, I could be wrong.

Yeah, we just use versus tests (with really clear intents and tasks!) to quickly resolve that stuff.

Just to clarify: a versus test including the attempt to help? Or would the helpee make a Will test? Now I'm lost. I would've thought Intimidate vs. will, Intent: "Stop from interfering" or some such.

If there's already opposition, I'd probably have the bully help them.

Player A: I intimidate Player C's character!
Player B: Yeah, I help him!
Player C: Screw you both!
Player D: I want to shove Player B's character so he can't help.
GM: Ok, you two make an (insert appropriate ability) versus test. If Player D wins, Player B can't help.

Takes about a minute to resolve and it adds a lot to the scene.

Cool. I get it. Yesterday I thought how that would work, but now I see it. It's the helpee trying to give a hand and staying focused on the ability. That's why he rolls.
