I just want clarification on something:

If I want to spend the 5 points it takes to make a skill Heroic it should come out of the points designated for the LP where I got that skill or general points... right?

So if I have no lifepaths that give me meditation and only 4 general points i cannot do it unless I get a meditation or general lifepath?

Say you have 10 pts in Skills acquired through Lifepaths and 2 pts in General Skill Points:

- If Meditation was not a skill available in any of your chosen lifepaths, there is no way you could grey out that skill, as you would need a total of 6 General Skill Points (1 to open, 5 to grey). Remember, you can not use non-General Skill Points to augment skills not available in your chosen lifepaths.

-If Meditation was a skill available in one your chosen lifepaths, then you could use any of your 10 Skill Points and 2 General pts to open up the Meditation Skill and then grey it out. (Of course, don't forget to first spend Skill points to open up any required skills in those lifepaths. Whatever is left can be used to Grey out the Meditation skill.)

Skill Points earned in a particular lifepath are not restricted in their usage to specific Skills earned in that lifepath. A lifepath could offer 5 Skill Points, but you really only have to spend one of those on that lifepath's required skill. You could dump the other 4 pts into a different skill learned in a different lifepath.

Ah. That clarifies things a bit (not having to spend points earned in a particular LP just in those LP's skills). Makes a big difference.

Thanks

to clarify:

It cost 5 pts to open a Gray/Heroic skill/stat. (not 6).

Thus you need 5 General pts to open at Gray a skill which is not available on your lifepaths. And you would not be able to advance it any farther in character burning.

To my knowledge, Cloistered Monk is the only LP in the Burner that gets Meditation. This is due to the "western influence" of these LPs. If you are playing in a more Eastern/Persian oriented game Meditation should be available to any Acolyte lifepath.

I have a feeling I will be creating a whole slew (sp???) of LPs over the course of defining my campaign :)

Ultimately much of the burner will be relavent but I will probably add some culture specific LPs to each setting

Right now I have only two races... Man and Troll

More to come.... promise

to clarify:
It cost 5 pts to open a Gray/Heroic trait. (not 6).

Oops. :: Are you sure?

And I suppose you mean "Skill" and not "Trait?"
