Lunchbox

First Post.
I can't control my brainstorming some times and just wanted to get my ideas out there.
After one weekend of playing Burning Wheel half a year ago I made a tidy sum selling all my other Fantasy RPG's. I eagerly await new expansion info. Have played a buch of sessions over the past six months and am a total convert.
A couple of ideas. Or maybe just one. IMS seems clunky to me. (as well as DOF) Though I still love it. I have many love/hate relationships.
-Give every weapon a base POW. When rolling to hit Use characters POW dice and Skill dice(Hand wpn) or AGL and Skill (Ranged). Much like Spell casting. Any successes above the obstacle are added to the POW of the weapon to find the damage on the gray scale.
Say a character has pow B3 and Knives Skill B3 rolls 6D against Ob2 to strike his opponent. He gets very lucky and gets 5 successes. If the Knives base POW were B1 his 3 extra successes would make the damage done a B4 wound. (On second thought that could get ugly.)
Oh yeah, scatterbrain did have a second idea.
-Armor dice. Open end the armor roll and have each success reduce the damage done by one pip. You still loose 1's.
Enemy strikes your 5D worth of Chainmail with a Club(no VA) B6 damage strike. You blow on your little cubes and roll. Getting 2, 4, 3, 1, and 5. You reduce the strike to a B4 and loose a die of armor. If he had made a B7 strike using a sword(VA2) and your chainmail rolls had been 2, 2, 5, 6, and 6, then 6 and 6 (you lucky bastard) then 6 and 1(oops) then 1(damn!), the results would be a B2 damage strike(hah!) and a loss of a point of armor.
Slightly more die clatter a little less math. I think.
I don't even use these ideas in my own campaign. I feel that they are worth a look though. Just want to see what Abzu or his helpers think.
