Mad Hatter

OK, ever since I picked up the Wheel I've been itching to run a straight Middle Earth game. The Elves and Dwarves in the rules fit that world so well, and I am of course partial to the Tolkien setting.
Anyway, how to run a game in the actual book-based continuity and not make it totally boring for the players? There is a brief mention of things happening in the north during the whole saga, including an army of orcs that gathered north of Mirkwood at Mount Gundabad. The elves of Mirkwood, the dwarves in the Lonely Mountain, and the men of Laketown and Dale faced this army and defeated it while the fighting was going on in the south. I was thinking this would be a great setting for a BW game, and the players will have their choice of elves, dwarves, and men if they want.
Anyway, I floated this idea with a couple of my regular players and they were into the idea. They are not as sold on BW as the system, but I am going to give this whole thing another try. I'll post more as characters get made, etc.
