I met with this young man who was in a mentor program I was a part of. For a long while I was sort of his big brother in this program. We met earlier this week to go for a swim but it was a bit chilly for that, so I brought along the Character Burner and handed him the book.

"Elves, Dwarves, Orcs and Humans. Here are the life-paths to look through."

City --> Thief --> Guard --> Soldier

I call this guy the Bad Cop.

He cranked out the following:

Beliefs

I'm better than you.

I always win.

A knife in the head is better than a knife in the back.

Instincts

Knife in the boot.

Stab first, ask later.

If it looks bad, run!

Kick 'em while they're down.

Traits

Brutal
Long Tongue
Streetsmart

Statistics

Perception: B2
Will: B5

Agility: B6
Speed: B4
Power: B4
Forte: B5

Attributes

Health: B3
Steel: B6
Reflexes: B5
Mortal Wound: 10

Skills

Brawling B6
Stealthy B6
Dagger B6
Shield Training
Armor Training
Forage B2
Intimidate B6
Sword B6
Streetwise B5
Fire-Building B2
Lock-picking B4

We've yet to spend his Resource points but thought he might be serving with a Mercenary Company of some sort.

I decided that I'd run this guy on an adventure, possibly with another local gamer (Manicrack, I'm looking at YOU).

Their Sarge will come to them and say that he can only let go of one other member of the regiment but they must go after some deserters and bring at least one back alive for a public whipping. They chose this guy because he has no scruples what so ever.

Draw up a hasty map and OFF WE GO.

Fun stuff!

A great BW thug character. He hit a number of sweet spots.

Things to look out for: B2 Perception is going to give him a bit of a glass jaw. Two light wounds and he's down for the count.

Skills open up at half of the Root Stat, not equal to.

His Health is average of Will and Forte, a B5. Did you modify that with the Monster Burner Health questions to get the B3?

His Reflexes should be B4. Average of Perception, Agility, and Speed rounded down. 12/3 = 4.

Where'd that 4th Instinct come from? I'd ditch the "stab" instinct and keep the "kick'em" instinct. Much cooler in play.

Still, a fun and cool character concept. Love to hear how he plays out. I sense tragic death... Those beliefs are going to come into serious conflict with his world...

Thanks for the comments, Luke. These are the same mistakes I made last time I burned up a character. Good to know my mistakes are at least consistent.

wow, that one will be trouble, i wil have to come up with another badass charckter to stand against this guy.
My concept is a bastard son of a noble rejected by his family dn becoming a mercenary.
I will post him in another threat as soon as i got him burned up.
