Here is part two of my foray into D&D creature conversion

Displacer Beast

The displacer beast resembles a panther with two powerful, barbed tentacles growing from its shoulders. These are the beast's main weapon as claws and teeth are used only in extremis. Their main advantage in combat is their magical ability of displacement, their ability to appear as far as three feet from their real location. They hate all life and kill as much for pleasure as for food.

Instincts: Approach your prey stealthily, Enjoy the pain of your prey, keep your fur clean

Beliefs: All life is prey, blink dogs must die, spare only our own kind

Traits: Feline, Coat of Fur, Keen Smell, Cat's Eye, Fanged, Loner, Barbed Tentacles, Displacing Aura

Barbed Tentacles ( 8 ): The main attacks of the beast come these strong tentacles. When used to grapple an opponent they add +1D to Get Inside and Lock action. Additionally, the barbed pads canbe used to whip and rend an opponent adding +1 power VA:1 to its attacks.

Pricing +1 Lock (4), +1 Power (4)

Displacer Aura (10): The displacer's magic resonates out through its fur and is constantly surrounded by blurry shimmering images of itself. Essentially, this acts as a permenant Grey Cloak spell around the displacer. All Perception, melee, or ranged rolls against the beast are at +2 Ob. There only weakness to this power is that it relies on the beast's fur being clean.

Pricing: Rule breaking (5), Always on (2), PITAP (3)

Actually, I don't think the Displacer Aura is a 10 pt trait.

Look at the mechanics. It only gives a +2 Ob to incoming "attacks". According to page 73 of the Monbu, that counts as a Bonus Die trait, and only costs 6 pts. I'd only assign it a +1 PITAP, too. It's not THAT powerful, but it is a pain in the ass.

good work!

The second instinct isn't an instinct. Let's see if we can define it in concrete BW actions.

"If my prey hesitates from pain, then I forfeit my next action and assess."
