Hi,
so I've decided the only way I'm guaranteed to get my fix of BW at Dragonmeet this year is to run a scenario and have chosen Mel's awesome looking Quest for the Holy Grail.
Anyone have any tips for running it at a Con that aren't already covered in the PDF?
Dragonmeet (http://www.dargonmeet.co.uk) is on 29th November (my birthday!) at Kensington Town Hall.
Be good to see some fellow Burners there. I'll be the guy in the MagBu tee :)
Cheers,

Hey Paul,
I really enjoy Mel's Grail Quest scenario. I've played in it twice and ran it once. Mel covers a lot of the important tips for running it in the document, but you can check out APs and follow-up discussion and trouble-shooting in these threads. Mel's made a few changes since the first threads, but you can still get an idea of how a game might go, what to look out for, and what sort of awesome awaits! I hope you'll post an AP after you run this!

Hi Paul,
I really wish i could have come back this year. Alas, it's not in the cards. Perhaps next year!

-LShame, especially as your dollars will go alot further over here now. Look forward to seeing you at Dragonmeet '09 then :)
I suggested on the Dragonmeet Livejournal they should invite you back again but they've gone for Robin Laws & Kenneth Hite instead, whoever they are... ;)
Will hopefully revisit that excellent Lebanese diner for some post-gaming sustenance, which should become part of the annual Dragonmeet traditions. At least you won't be there to have anything spilled on you this time!
Rachel - thanks for the links, consider them devoured. Have also downloaded the AP recordings to glean any handy tidbits from.
Will let you know how it goes, should be a blast!

Paul,
This is great! I'm confident the game will go well and everyone will enjoy it--it's the Burning Wheel, after all. What's not to enjoy?! And there is just something appropriate about running 'Quest for the Holy Grail' in the UK. Rachel has done yeoman's work providing links to previous APs (thanks, Rachel). Those APs and the comments in the actual 'Grail' pdf capture my experiences and advice for running the adventure. The best advice is still the same advice Luke gives out at the start of his convention games--encourage the players to do whatever they think is cool. Finish the game with no regrets of 'I wish I had done X.' The only other advice that probably should be included, depending on your tastes, is to ban Monty Python jokes!

MelNo Python jokes! No way!
Shrubberies, Ni!, "it's only a flesh wound!", swallows and many other choice phrases may well get mentioned knowing a couple of mates who will hopefully be playing...
I also have a feeling when the PCs meet the King and I say "I am Arthur, King of the Britons" I may well get the retort "You're a bloody loonatic"
I won't tell the players this but they could quite possibly get a +2D advantage to Circling up an Enchanter named Tim and for a Resources roll to buy a Trojan Bunny...
Dammit, now I'm going to have to get some coconut's for the chase back to Camelot (Let's not go there, 'tis a silly place...)

You're killing me. Actually, in the game at last year's Dreamation, I think, in a fight between Lancelot and Palamedes one of the characters took a minor wound.
"How badly are you hurt?" asked someone.
"It's only a flesh wound," was the reply, totally deadpan, perfectly appropriate, and had everyone laughing.

hey Paul,
Sorry I've not got back to you about this, but uni has been a bit demanding of my time. The game sounds great, and please add me to the list of players if possible. I shall see you on the day, and the meal afterwards is a definite YES!
John
