This is a pre-gen character for a BW event I'm running at NC Gameday.
Arcenzo Kell was born to Aedmund Kell of the Imperial College of Heraldry, and his Myrenese wife Nariana, a former adventurer from Brynn’s chief rival land of Myren, and an accomplished fencer. Aedmund’s duties took him the breadth and span of the Empire, and as a consequence Arcenzo never stayed in one place very long. A cute and charming child, Arcenzo always had a way with people. People just assumed that he would follow in his father’s footsteps with the Diplomatic arm of the Empire of Brynn.
Arcenzo was very close to his mother, whom had taught him the Myrenese form of fencing, a rapier combined with a parrying dagger, as he showed signs of talent. It was crushing to Arcenzo and Aedmund both when Nariana died of fever when Arcenzo was 12. Aedmund decided that he could not continue to travel without his beloved wife. He requested and was granted a permanent posting and was appointed Imperial Herald to Baron Caellan of Graymoor. It was a good posting for both as the limited duties for a Herald of a border province allowed him to spend a lot of time with Arcenzo. He continued Arcenzo’s education not only in academics, but also in the intricacies of the Noble Court. Arcenzo was a quick study. While hardly the Imperial Seat, Arcenzo plied and improved his courtly skills at Moorwind Keep, and over the years grew a small network of contacts around Graymoor that gave him enough information that would enable him to be quite formidable at court. But instead Arcenzo lay low, preferring to sharpen his skills in the background until he was ready to strike out on his own in the grander and more deadly courts of the Inner Empire.
While Arcenzo is friendly with most people, he has a special friendship with the young Imperial Mage, Aeric Bowendale. They are kindred spirits who have spent many a night at the Bear North Inn drinking and carousing. It’s hard to be a courtier and not make enemies, and Arcenzo is no exception. He despises the Imperial Warden Daerus Thinscott, who is charged with law and order within the province. He sees the man as a villain who abuses his power. The animosity is mutual, as Thinscott sees Arcenzo as a half-breed Myrenese spoiled runt who hides behind daddy (Aedmund Kell). Thinscott is also the lackey of Chancellor of the Exchequer Blye, a cold, ruthless, and calculating man who runs the bureaucracy of the province, and in truth runs it when the Baron is unavailable. Arcenzo knows that inevitably one day he will run afoul of Blye, and that he will be put to his ultimate test.
Arcenzo is short with an average build. He is fair-skinned which is typical of the Brynnish, but has dark hair and eyes with sharp, handsome features which reflects his Myrenese heritage.
