This is a pre-gen character for a BW event I'm running at NC Gameday
Aeric was born to a Freeman in a village along one of the many trade routes in the heart of the empire. Every spring, a mage from the Imperial Academy of Sorcery came through and tested would be students, and in his tenth spring, young Aeric was determined to possess the Gift. Excited but sad, Aeric said good-bye to his family, and was taken to the city of Caitan, home of the Academy.
Here he studied hard under demanding teachers. His rudimentary training included reading, writing, and mathematics. He also excelled in more advanced topics such as symbology, astrology, and the history of the Empire.
As an apprentice, Aeric performed well grasping the fundamentals of Sorcery and Enchantment. He was an ambitious student, always yearning to learn more. His teachers had high hopes for him, but were disappointed by his faults. Aeric had a tendency to sneak off the Academy grounds when he should have been practicing, allured by the city’s taverns and gaming halls. His exploits resulted in several offenses that could have led him to expulsion, however his promise was too great to squander. Upon his achieving the Robe, he was sent to Graymoor, a remote and relatively unimportant province along the northern border of the empire, where it was thought that he would outgrow his immature impulses.
Aeric has spent his time in Graymoor primarily assisting the senior mage of the Province, Preceptor Aulderfast, with his experiments and research as an apprentice would. His other duty was using his mastery of The Sense to seek out unsanctioned magic and sorcerers mixed in amongst the caravan traffic traveling the Sentinel Pike, the great highway that runs east to west parallel to the Sentinel Mountains which form the northern border of the Empire of Brynn. Unsanctioned magic is regarded as a serious threat and a crime in the Empire.
Aeric might have died from boredom if he hadn’t met Arcenzo Kell, son of Aedmund Kell, Baron’s Caellen’s Imperial Herald. Being of similar age and interest, the two quickly bonded as close friends and have spent many an evening at the Bear North Inn. Together, He and Arcenzo, a talented courtier despite his young age, have discussed their grand plans to one day seek power, position, and adventure, in the sophisticated courts of the Inner Empire.
Aeric is tall, reaching 6’ in height, and possesses a wiry frame. He has typical Brynnish features of fair skin, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
