Where do Men and Elves get their metal from? Do they have to trade with the Dwarfs for it all or are there miners unrepresented? I'd like to see miner LPs for both those races. Would anyone else?

Are there any other missing LPs that seem important for these societies to work?

Definitely for men- should be in the village setting, with perhaps an additional one for the captive setting (forced labor and all that). I don't really picture elves mining in the traditional sense, with pickaxes and shovels, but they would probably have a song that coaxes metal to flow out of the rock for them to gather.

I'd also like to see more underworld type lifepaths in city or outcast... I know Luke's position on criminals, but a little variety is always nice- I think you can even port a bunch over from the roden lifepaths, like snitch, fence, etc.

Also, it would be cool to have a sorceror lifepath or two in the professional soldier setting. You could have one that's just a straight up battle-mage, a sort of magical artillerist, and another that's more of an advisor, reading portents before battles and such.

Your idea for the Elven miner is similar to what I was thinking, Viper!

OK! What am I thinking now?

"Man, I could go for some beef jerky right about now."

Laborer fills a lot roles.

Engineer substitutes nicely for the professional miner.

remember: miner rhymes with whiner!

Suer, ok for the men, but what about the Elf?

Go trade with the Dwarves!

Actually, that was a deliberate choice inspired by the source material. They're a mythic culture and therefore don't sustain themselves the same way we do.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that elven culture is so old, pretty much everything they need is already made. Why forge a new sword when you have one that's 3000 years old and was wielded by legendary heroes? Sure, things break and need to be mended, but as far as new things go, I doubt the elves have very much need in that area.

Would any of these be useful?

Village: Butcher, Guide, Innkeeper

City: Barber, Gambler, Guild Official, Innkeeper, Musician, Shipwright, Taverner, Teamster

Court: Champion, Interpreter, Maidservant, Spy, Tutor

Outcast: Failed Apprentice (requires Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Hermit

Religious: Doorkeeper, Exorcist

Ok, I'll accept your explanation about laborers and engineers, but I still think we should have some more criminal-type LPs...
