So having checked out the Roden lifepaths, I see the Murderer Lifepath and I'm wondering where the human equivalent is. I mean we've got Thugs, Bandits, Cutpurses, Street Urchins, and every other manner of low life Thieves Guild material - but I ask...

Where are the professional killers?

Is this Abzu's way of saying that anyone can be an assassin? That its not a Lifepath unto itself? That a Bandit can be an assassin, just as easily as a Foot Soldier? Is he saying that the assassin moniker is not so much a stand-alone profession as it is a title given to someone who simply kills other people for money, regardless of their day job? That no specialized skills are required for the murdering of others?

All you who would have your black hearts acknowledged, wave your garrotes.

you nailed me, fox.

anyone can be an assassin or murder in the Lifepaths of Man. Roden are a little more metaphorical in their form. They are a cartoonish reflection of an aspect of our psyche, thus cartoonish monikers and ideas like Murderer fit them.

There are other reasons, too. But I'm at work. More later.

Abzu's objections notwithstanding, if you are creating a world in which there are such things as Assassins Guilds and such, that's what your handy Monster Burner is for! Take the Murderer lifepath from the Roden as a template, and burn up your own City-based lifepath! You've got the tools.
