Crunch's life changed on the day he sat down by an underground pool and started bashing away at a nearby boulder to break in his new hammer and relax a bit. He stopped to take a drink from the pool and noticed that the boulder kind of looked like his face. Only not. He gave it another whack with his hammer. Better. Nose too big. One more whack sent the nose flying off down a tunnel and in anger he smashed the boulder to pebbles. But his new hobby and obsesssion had begun.
Several years later, Crunch was pretty pleased with himself. Good hunting, good trophies, and his rock bashing was getting better every day.
Then he found the dwarves. Crunch saw statues and intricate carvings and Crunch knew in his heart that nothing he made would ever look like that.
CRUNCH HATE DWARVES!
Crunch became known throughout the caves as the most brutal and devoted dwarf hunter ever known. No one quite understood all the whacking at the rocks but quite frankly no one wanted to get close enough to his swinging hammer to ask.
A Troll warlord rounded up all the trolls in the caves far a war against the dwarves and Crunch needed no forcing to join up. In time, the warlord demanded what all the rock bashing was about and Crunch just pointed to the rock and said.
"Make look like my head."
The warlord looked at him and then looked at the rock and then looked back at Crunch. "Make one for me!"
So it came to pass crude that boulder monuments to their greatest warriors were left in the wake of the troll horde.
