Demo at PAGE (our local gaming club) went okay last night. The players, in a punchy mood, decided to get right into the spirit of a one-off adventure and didn't even talk to the farmer folk. After a brief conversation with Van Goten ("Why are you up there?" "I was fighting Orcs." "Where are they?" "In the house."), they charged the house. Damn that Dwarf is slow (party was the Elf, the Dwarf, and the sailor -- sounds like a joke lead-in). Short work was made of the Orcs (the Wolf was fleeing at -2 dice early in the second exchange -- the annoyingly nimble Elf lead the way and just could not be gotten inside of). Fun was had by all.
Scenario Feedback
* You need to have better indications of which Orcs are "goblins" and which are "orcs". I assumed then Legioners were "orcs".
* Orcs were missing missile weapon statistics in their writeups.
Materials Suggestions
* Having sheets for the NPC combatants would be very helpful, if someone has the time and resources.
* The cheat sheet is also missing from the downloads (I forgot to point this out earlier).
Player Comments
* One player, Jon, playing the sailor commented that he didn't see the point in defending, as it just allows your opponent to stay around longer. Unfortunately, I never had a good chance to hit him (the few opportunities there were were absorbed by armor).
* Another player, Gloria, thinks you should've made it a Shadowrun-like game.
One observation I have about scripted combat is that it gets very unwieldy for the GM as they have to do scripts for each NPC. I even took shortcuts like having all the goblins script the same.
