View Full Version : Help with a four armed biped which can use his arms to move

I'm creating a four armed biped giant type. His legs are that of an animal (I don't know the proper term for the bent legs), so he can get down on all six(?) and move about that way too.

What I was wondering, is what movement should I use for the six appendages?

I imagine it to be faster than the standard biped movement, but how much? Like that of a canine, or maybe just bump up the jog and sprint by one (1/3/4.5)?

Any discussions or ideas would be appreciated.

On a side note, the massive stature on the worksheet reads 6'10" instead of 7'10" I only noticed this because, this monster stands at 8' tall.
Thanks

Hi Wayfinder,
a creature that trundles about on two legs most of the time should use the standard biped rates.

if you want an additional move rate for running around on all sixes, use the Insect or Spider rates, which ever fits what you're after.

BTW, I did research on apes and their running speed -- they actually can't run as fast as a human biped. So there might not need to be additional speed for your creature.

and welcome!

Tell me another board where you get that kind of service! Personal research executed by the creator of the game. Now Abzu, about my individual retirement accounts...

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that. I guess you just assume they're faster because of more legs or arms, but I guess not. I think I may keep the walk and jog speeds the same and increase the sprint up 1 or 2 to simulate the long strides of the giant in the long run.
