View Full Version : How to burn up a "shadow mage"

We've been using Necromancer Games's "The Crucible of Freya" for our Burning Wheel game. For our next session, I expect the players to have to deal with a "shadow mage", a mage who was trying to become a lich but was tricked (by Orcus) into becoming a shadow.

My thought for this character is to burn up a sorcerer and then add the Spirit Nature trait from Monster Burner. I also have Magic Burner, but I didn't see anything that really helped from the Spirit Binding, Summoning, or Death Art sections (other than possibly some bits on how to lay the poor soul to rest).

I'm open to any suggestions on how to proceed.

Thanks

Seems like the process for creating a lich could be helpful. It's one of the Death Art rituals.

Yes, I read through that. Some questions though. First, with Evocation, the soon to be liche loses die and call on traits, and thus would lose gifted. Second, it's not quite clear how to go from there to an incorporeal spirit (though still tied to a body).

Aw, come on now. Look at all those fancy traits you get! You trade one type of power for another!

Alternately, use the Vampyr in the Monbu.
