View Full Version : Open-Ended Question

If I get an open-ended roll for the main skill I'm testing, do extra dice added to the main roll also become open-ended? I'm specifically thinking about working carefully here, but same question applies to other extra dice like FoRKs.

The case in point is my elven bard. He's singing the Song of Merriment, which is open-ended, but he's working with the care of the eternal, which grants +2d. I'm wondering if the 2d are also open-ended.

All dice rolled take on the characteristics of the skill, stat or ability being rolled. If it is an open-ended skill, stat or ability, then all dice rolled are open-ended. If it is a gray skill, stat or ability, then all dice rolled are gray. etc.

Conversely, if you are rolling a black skill and FoRK or get help from a gray skill, then all dice rolled are black.

Oh, there is one teensy, edge-case scenario in which this is not true.

If you have an Astrology helping die or FoRK that explodes up on a 6 and potentially eats successes on a 1, that holds true for that particular die and that die alone.

I hope that's not confusing.
