Heres a little BW goodness to hold you over before I release my campaign setting material (character creation done by the end of the year for my fantasy campaign).

In the meantime I have a sci-fi game inspired by a number of sources:
Warhammer 40K, Aeon/Trinity, Chronicle of Riddick and Ghost Recon (or any solid squad based shooter). This promises to be a very tactical, gritty BW meets gun totin' freaks! :D

There are about three more sections to finish here.

PLEASE make a few characters and give me your input. Remember that this is developed off the BW Lite rules, not the full game.

What? 26 views and no responses. What's with that!?

Looks great so far. At work so it will have to wait for more detailed exloration at home.

One question pops to mind. You give the freedom fighters extra artha, wouldn't I be better represented by giving them a call on trait like :
Desperate Drive - in times of great need and stress the rebel looks to the hard core of his being and tries harder for the betterment of all and for the fall of the EPG.

Why the light rules?

Can't wait to see what you come up with on the gun side. If there is a lot of WH40K in you then make them big, or maybe check out the Mutant Chronicles (great site here) (http://www.sebman.com/index.html). MC has some great (and simple) rules for fireing assult rifles and machinguns one handed.

Summary: every weapon has a Strength Rating, if you PC has Strength higher than SR then you can use it one handed without penalty. If you use both hands the your strength is doubled.
can be translated:
Every GUN has a Bulk Rating. If your Power equals or exceed the bulk rating, then you may fire the blasted thing one handed. If not you take an obstacle penalty equal to the difference. Same penalty applies if your double (2H) power does not exceed the BR.

Oh  sorry so excited that I am gushing. Guess you pushed a couple of buttons here. Certainly fires up my long dormant Burning Suns concept.

Thanks! :D

Why make it a trait? Why not? :) I mean its certainly an interesting philosophical issue. Do the Rebels get a permanent bonus against the EPG? But then what makes them rebels? When the EPG goes away do the rebel bonuses go away or can they apply it to another cause? Do they lose the trait if they betray the rebels?

I figured it was just a little temporary boost.

Yeah, I do plan on having spiffy fat gunz! I have the main marine gun designed :D Its cool. More on those later.

hi don,

that's neat stuff.
if you really want folks to make characters i suggest you flesh out your burner a little more -- skill descriptions and resources would be nice.

Also, why don't you copy and paste the BW Lite mechanics into your pdf so people know what they are doing? Just properly attribute them and I have no problem with your using them.

Desperate Drive - in times of great need and stress the rebel looks to the hard core of his being and tries harder for the betterment of all and for the fall of the EPG

I sort of got the image of rebels of the old communist insurgent type, who with a handful of rice and and outdated weapons battled disspirited capitalist lackeys (in their opnion, not mine).

Idealistic rebels like Che Guevara, who wasn't satisfied with liberating his own country but had to go and get himself killed in another war of liberation.

That sort of rebels.

Figured they'd fit your pitch.

Why a trait, well if your players are battling the Rebels it makes them more terryfing, and it gives PC rebels a little edge to counteract their poor equipment.

Also playing a trait when it is inconvinient to do so gives you artha, so if the rebel PC wants artha all he have to do is to grit his teeth and fight desperatly when it would be more convinient to sneak away.

IMO you get more story milage out of traits than artha.

Ooooooooooh
:::clap hands exitingly while skipping up and down like a litttle bitch:::
I'd love to have a look at this.

These are not terribly crunchy, rather they run more like theory with some mechanical suggestions.

Check out the link:

The Focus rules can be found in a link at the bottom of the page.

To be honest this wasn't that sort of project. For one I figured many of the skills would be pretty self explanatory and could easily be used in conjunction with BW. I may flesh it out some (resources are my next chapter). Really though, this was a way to play a cool sci-fi game with a particular group and to play with the concepts in BW Lite a bit. This was meant as a quickie to hold people over until Epoch of Jade (for those who are waiting) yet not spend so much time on it as to effect my self-imposed deadline :D

Done-ish. I posted a link to them for this. It was internal so no one would really see it that is not already familiar with BW and my fanatical devotion :D However, props should be given where its due! If something were to be officially published I would definately put more effort into the polish and completeness. And this is a work in progress :D Hope you like.

So I built some mechanical concepts into the Traits that I thought made a good shot at down and dirty trait rules.

Can you figure out the philosophy behind the trait mechanics in FoH?

Hint: It has to do with how many LPs you take.

I'd love for folks to make characters (maybe even a short campaign once I post my campaign notes) and please give me some feedback about how it went!

Thanks
