Thor, what exactly does this spell do? Does it allow the caster to shape a sail from air? I think that'd be Control. Control is the facet that allows you to bend, twist and shape.

It strengthens the air around a mast and makes it dense enough that it can serve as a sail. No real shaping involved.

I dunno. Enhance increases the very qualities of the air itself -- it essentially gives it bonus dice to do what it does. Air typically doesn't solidify. You've got to jam air around and bang it into a shape it doesn't want to be in if you want something solid.

I still think it falls under Enhance. You're just increasing the density of the air a great deal in a localized area. I mean, if I were to make a spell that increased the strength of silk to the point that it acted as armor, it would be an Enhance spell. Silk doesn't typically stop swords though.

Anyway, it makes almost no difference if you make it a Control spell.

It comes out to the same Ob (2), and 6.25 Syllables. So it will be 4 Actions instead of 3.

I confess: for some reason this spell bugs me.

Something's not jiving.

First, you know it's a touch range spell, right? Personal Origin, Single Target AoE = Touch.

Second, what qualified this spell for a Minoris sigil? Sounds like it is one strong magical effect in the spell. No limitations or weaknesses described in the effect.

i know, I know. I'm an abzu.

You Abzu!

Yeah, you touch the mast and form a sail from the air. That was intentional.

How is it possibly not limited?! With Air Enhance I could take a zephyr and turn it into a gale force wind! If we go with the Control version (and I suppose I'll concede that point), I could take that breeze and make it blow any direction I wanted to. Are you telling me that this spell is as potent as Windlash, which uses Air-Control to create Ob penalties for opponents?

All this spell does is form a bit of sail -- a simple spell that Ged maintained for days. It doesn't even create the breeze that pushes the sail. It's certainly far less powerful than an Air-Control spell could be. If that's not enough, I'm fine with the idea that it can only work on boats and not ships.
