Concept: Noble girl trained to be Death With Boobies (TM), couldn't handle the pressure, got a drinking problem, got a baby, got ambushed by bandits and fled the scene (and her sister) when she got the chance, into the wild she wasn't suited for, the kid died of malnutrition, a Kocista-Noga (sp?) appeared on scene and started making nasty statements about the dead baby, the KN got flamed, now she's a recluse in the forest (barring any story added for the fight! tournament).

Couple notes:

1) Please be explicit by what you mean by "RotM Arms".

2) Though I should have been more specific, I don't think I like the idea of letting sorcerous champions in. This is a Fight! competition, after all, not R&C or sorcery. Let's treat sorcery like we treat mounts -- you can have it, but you can't use it unless your opponent consents.

That brings up some questions...

1) Would Aura of Fear causing an automatic Steel test to start off the Fight! be above the cheating threshold?
2) Not-a-Maid's Steel was 7. What all is capped at 6?
3) Is Faith also treated like a horse? What about elven spell songs?

Neither Faith nor Spell Songs are treated like a Mount or Sorcery. We've had credible fights in the Arena between singing and non-singing opponents -- it's not an overwhelming advantage. Neither are firearms, before someone else asks. I personally don't think that mounts are, either, but people seem afraid of them so I'm content to leave them out.

Using Aura of Fear in the fashion you describe would not be above the Cheating threshhold, as long as it's a scripted action (ie. no "before a fight, activate Aura of Fear" instincts).

Skills are the only thing capped at six, as far as I'm concerned. You want an Orc with a B8 power or a Dwarf with a B9 Greed? Go ahead.

I'm pretty sure I'll never use the beak, but it looked too silly to pass up. Also, "Skills are the only thing capped at six, as far as I'm concerned. You want an Orc with a B8 power or a Dwarf with a B9 Greed? Go ahead." --Yagathai, earlier this thread.

Is the spending skill points to gray a skill from Classic? I don't see it anywhere in my Revised (only mentions stats) and don't have Classic.

I think it will be tough to get the concept I want with 4 lps and make him competitive in the arena ... unless I can tweak the Duelist LP to have "Appropriate Weapons" instead of strictly Sword skill. Is that sort of thing allowed?

Doesn't Bandit have Appropriate Weapons? You could just drop the Blackmailer path if you wanted, right?

Yes, but Bandit doesn't lead to City Dweller Setting. That's why I took Blackmailer in the first place, though the Ugly Truth also happens to be a key skill for a hit-man. :)

And Yag, my apologies. I didn't realize there was an "official/unofficial" distinction. So I'm game for an unofficial match with Raul as a 5-lp character. I burned him up for experimental purposes anyway.

And in the meantime, I'll keep tweaking to see if I can get him down to 4-lps for more "official" fare. However, I think I'd rather test him as is, against a comparable character, so I can get a feel for how this sort of character would work in combat. After all, we don't burn characters for who they are, but for who they might become ...

Concept/Bio: Naked Fat Berserker

A small child who grew up in his rural house hold, often abused by his uncle who he would go hunting with. Not wanting to be near his uncle, he was never ever really able to learn much. Then, the day came when little bernie looked attractive to his uncle. Bernie was in shock until the next time they went on the hunt where he proceeded to beat his uncle unconscious and run. Not knowing where he came to, he found a camp of mercenaries. He quickly was realized for his ferocity and was chosen as a shock trooper. Still with his feelings reeling, he went full force, without armor and without clothes, only his birthday suit. At first, he only started with his fists until he picked up one of his enemies axes and proceeded to hack. Bernie being a late bloomer continued to grow. Now Bernie Bigs is an unstable naked fat berserker who wanders the countryside looking for battles to fight

Being fat seems so important to your back story that I'm surprised that you didn't give him the Fat trait, or even Massive Stature.

Also in your backstory is that he joined some mercs, so why no Freebooter LP?

I always question when the story doesn't match the LPs.
