One hundred taiko drums rumble and thump into life, filling the arena with chest-shaking thunder. The shouting crowd of thousands jump to their feet in excitement. The first match is about to begin and it promises to be a magnificent start to the Grand Tournament of Champions.

The West Gate of the Arena slams open as a blast of furious wind whips out across the field. Twirling upon the gush of air is Po Gui Lo, Master of Kim Do! The crowd crescendos as he lands softly in the center of the proving ground.

The East Gate responds with a thunderous crack! The crowd hushes as the great doors burst open. The sky erupts with lightning as White Fire dances across the Arena. Drowing out the taiko, a hammerstrike from the sky scorches the earth! Then, standing in the rising smoke, is Lei Bao Zhong, Master of the Eight Dragon Style. Ears are deafened by the crowd's enthusiasm!

The drums come to a climax and fall silent. The wind dies down and the last wisp of smoke vanishes.

Po Gui Lo stands relaxed, armed with nothing but righteousness and dressed in leather. He awaits his foe, swaying slightly with the celestial harmonies.

Lei Bao Zhong, his demonic mask leering from underneath a wide, conical hat. Draped over his frame is a longcoat made of plated leathers. In his right hand is a spear, in his left a wooden shield displaying the character for "righteousness."

The two masters stand 3 paces from each other, already imagining the fight before them. Both foresee victory, but only Heaven knows the destined outcome.

Lei Bao Zhong crosses his spear and shield-arm over his chest and bows his head.

"Victory to the righteous!"

[Kublai]

As he finished his salute, Lei Bao Zhong turns his back and waits.

Following the dictates of Heaven, Po Gui Lo dashes backwards, avoiding any tricks Lei Bao Zhong may be up to.

The crowd loses some of its enthusiasm.

In a matter of moments, the two opponents are now 6 paces from each other and neither seems intent on closing the gap.

Suddenly, Lei Bao Zhong turns back towards his opponent and dashes forward, ready to strike!

Po Gui Lo keeps his distance, though, as he takes a step backwards.

They are now 4 paces from each other, well outside of unarmed range, and just oustide of lunging spear range!

The crowd snaps to attention as they realize this fight might be over right now!

Lei Bao Zhong continues his assault and leads with a skipping side kick, tagging Po in the hip!

With the grace of Heaven, Po Gui Lo sways back and redirects the kick. Using the same momentum, Po grabs the extended leg and twists Zhong's knee in painful manner!

The crowd roars in delight!

Staring down each other with only inches between them, the two Masters try to gleam what each other will do next!

Lei Bao Zhong makes the first move! Raising his knee to his chest, he launches forward with a pushing kick! The blow scores against Po Gui Lo's face, but Po remains as the mountains - unmoved! Instead, he reaches for the extended leg once again, but this time is not fast enough to snare it.

Coughing blood, Po goes for the lock again, but a spear shaft to his chest keeps him at bay!

Lei Bao Zhong stops retreating to gaze at his opponent. "Interesting," he muses. And then Po Gui Lo begins to throttle him around the neck!

It looks like the end! The crowd is ecstatic and are totally surprised as Po Gui Lo gives up his advantage and pushes Lei Bao Zhong away! Zhong is off balance but Po's face is rapidly swelling!

The crowd is wild with anticipation!

As if choreographed, the two martial masters move in unison. Po Gui Lo backs off as Lei Bao Zhong tries to close the distance between them. Perhaps in anger, perhaps in frustration, Zhong bellows a war cry and goes in for the kill!

The crowd cheers and shouts for blood!

The wind stirs slightly as Heaven sucks in its breath in anticipation of the final moment!

With a shout, Lei Bao Zhong races towards the waiting Po Gui Lo. Lei throws his most basic roundhouse towards Po's head. As he connects, Po spins with the kick and grabs Zhong's leg, tossing him into the wooden post jutting up from the earth.

Zhong's back cracks into the post and he loses his breath. Coughing up blood, he looks up to see Po still spinning through the air. Softly, Po lands in a heap, never to stand again.

LEI BAO ZHONG WINS!

The crowd erupts with cheering and applause! The taiko drums join them as flowers and confetti are tossed down to the Champion below.
