Hi all,
This is my first attempt at writing a BW martial art (and Kublai helped a lot, though he hasn't seen this final version yet). Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Also, I'm stumped as to free maneuvers for this art (or if it should even get them). Anyway, let me know what you think!
Serpent-Sting Staff
Serpent-Sting Staff is a weapon-based martial art that takes its inspiration from Snake. It emphasizes flexibility (both of the practitioner and his weapon), reach and movement, allowing the boxer to control positioning and even fight multiple opponents at once.
Special Moves/Abilities:
Ob 3 Springing Serpent Leap
Use Serpent-Sting Staff rather than Speed when Leaping (+3 paces).
Ob 3 Dance of the Cobra
The boxer may block and strike in the same action (as with shield training) when using a staff.
Ob 4 Coiling Python
The boxer may use his Serpent-Sting Staff rather than Power to trip (push) his opponent.
Ob 5 Two-Fang Strike
The boxer may now strike two opponents at once if they are on opposite sides of each other. Divide your dice between both attacks.
Ob 5 Snake Climbs the Tree
Utilizing the spring in his staff, the boxer may now use Serpent-Sting Staff in place of the Climb skill.
Ob 6 Adder Lightning Strike
The boxer may substitute Serpent-Sting Staff for Power in a Charge action.
Ob 6 Black Mamba Strikes the Heel
The boxer's staff can now make his staff so flexible that it can strike around corners and shields as if it were an articulated weapon (opponents get no shield dice).
Ob 7 Nine Direction Sweep
Twirling in a hypnotic dance, the boxer sweeps a great circle with his staff. This is a trip, as per the Coiling Python move, but if the boxer is successful in the maneuver he may perform the same maneuver on another opponent in Striking Distance standing next to the first opponent. The boxer may continue to sweep opponents from their feet until he fails once or he has affected all opponents within Striking Distance. This counts as a single Action.
Ob 8 Arrow Blocking Storm
Twirling the staff before him in a blinding whirlwind, the boxer may now block non-gunpowder powered missiles (knives, arrows, crossbow bolts, etc.). This maneuver takes two Actions.
Ob 9 Nine Direction Strike
As Nine Direction Sweep, but a Strike rather than a Trip.
