Once again, the taiko drums erupt into thunder as the latest Champions enter the arena! Seedy men run among the thousands of cheering spectators and take their bets. It seems Lei Bao Zhong is favored to win 2:1!

The East Gate roars open as the earth shakes the arena! Leaping out from the darkness is Jin Linghzi, the only surviving student from the Pine Wind Temple! Wearing only his school's traditional black-trimmed robes of white, he bears a simple staff made from the heart of a pine tree. Twirling the staff faster than the eye can follow, he leaps again into the air and soars across the arena, gently landing into a perfect stance.

In response, once again the Heavens crack and bristle with bolts of lightning! White Fire pierces the sky and blasts the proving grounds. With an triumphant crack, one bolt touches down mere paces from Jin Linghzi! The remaining smoke clears and Lei Bao Zhong is revealed! Once again, he wears his plated leather coat and bears a spear and shield. From behind his leering, demonic mask, he takes in his latest challenger.

The crowd is ecstatic and bellows encouragements and catcalls. They are ready for blood!

Lei Bao Zhong and Jin Linghzi stand 5 paces from each other. Who will make the first move?

Lei once more salutes his opponent with bowed head and crossed arms.

"Victory to the righteous!"

[Kublai]

Immediately after completing his bow, Lei Bao Zhong darts towards his opponent! Shield at the ready, he looks for an opportunity to land one of his deadly kicks.

However - to the amazement of the crowd - Jin Linghzi coils around his staff and launches himself into the air - away from Zhong! Sailing in a perfect arc, his body twisting as he goes, Jin lands far away in a perfect, serpentine stance. His thin body betrays no sign of effort.

The crowd goes wild at this most excellent display of acrobatics!

Perhaps Jin Linghzi's acrobatics impressed Lei Bao Zhong as much as it did the crowd? For Zhong skips backwards, as if anticipating a long range assault from the pauper monk facing him!

However, Jin scoots to his left and analyzes his environment, searching for an advantage on his long-shafted opponent!

The crowd, expecting something more... impressive, yells catcalls down to the warriors below! "Fight already!"

As if in answer to the crowd's demands, both participants begin to close the gap between them!

Lei Bao Zhong reverses momentum and dashes forward, spear tip scraping the ground behind him. Jin Linghzi displays amazing speed as he covers the gap, twirling his simple staff before him in a blur of motion.

Gazing up from the bowls of noodles and cups of tea, the crowd sees before them what might actually be a confrontation! Leaping to their feet, they forget about their snacks and scream for their favorite!

Jin Linghzi breaks to his left and heads for a large rock which is jutting from the earth. Dodging and weaving, he is like a serpent sliding across the earth. He vaults into the air in an attempt to take the high ground...

"KIIIIIIYAAAAAAA!!!" shouts Lei Bao Zhong like a crack of thunder from the heavens.

As an eagle swoops down on a snake, Zhong flies through the air and intercepts Jin in mid-flight! Taking the flying kick squarely in the ribs, Jin goes tumbling away. Drops of blood sail from his mouth as he lands awkwardly on his feet.

Without losing a moment, Jin sprints away, screaming in panic as Zhong chases after. The crowd erupts into chaos with delight! What a tremendous display they witness before them!

Badly wounded from Le Bao Zhong's surprising leap kick, Jin Linghzi sprints away while clutching his broken ribs, hoping to put as much distance between them as possible.

Zhong tries his best to finish off his fleeing prey with a quick spear thrust, but completely misses his mark!

The crowd is completely engaged in the hunt, baying like dogs chasing a fox!

Lei Bao Zhong watches the thin monk race away. There's not much fight left in the staff warrior, but he's still dangerous. One or two more blows and this fight will be over.

Jin Linghzi's blood clears from his ears and he hears the catcalls from the crowd. Red with anger and embarrassment, he wheels around, staff twirling in a blur. Planting the staff into the earth with a thud, he once again assumes a perfect stance!

The crowd cheers for Jin as he returns to the fight!

Hissing out a pained breath, Jin Linghzi grasps his staff with hands wide apart and slowly advances on Zhong. The crowd loves it and now roots for the underdog!

Lei Bao Zhong takes a retreating step, though ready for anything from his acrobatic foe. "Surrender! Throw..." he begins. Perhaps he has too much respect for this monk?

The crowd responds well to his gesture, though many would like to see a gory ending to this battle!

Gaining confidence, Lei Bao Zhong darts towards his opponent, dodging and weaving as he goes. Displaying his considerable prowess, he even includes impressive moves such as his famous Dragon Tail Kick. His speech continues, "Surrender! Throw down your arms and..."

Staring ahead, unimpressed by Zhong's showmanship, Jin Linghzi continues his cautious advance forward. Sliding his hands together, he begins to twirl his staff before him as he goes.

The tension in the arena is high as the crowd readies themselves for what surely is to come!

Finishing his intimidating display with a rock crushin axe kick, Lei Bao Zhong comes to a halt. He extends mercy to the wounded monk. "Surrender! Throw down your arms and be spared!"

Perhaps its the pain overwhelming him, perhaps it's his own honor, but Jin Linghzi pays no attention to Zhong's offer. Instead he rushes forward, staff twirling! With a spin, he slaps his staff to the ground a mere pace from his foe.

The offer is made and rejected. The outcome is clear. The crowd chants quietly. "Two men enter. One man leaves."

Lei Bao Zhong sighs at his opponent's stubborness and launches into an attack. Hoping to lure him out of position, he feints with his spear for Jin's head.

Jin Linghzi doesn't fall for the trick and instead smack Zhong's legs with his staff! WHAP! A limb-snapping blow is fortunately diverted by Zhong's armored long coat.

Showing a bit more life than before, Jin follows up with another staff strike to Zhong's other leg. And again, Zhong's armor proves its quality.

Ignoring the repeating blows to his legs, Zhong tries to close the gap between them. However, despite his best attempt, Jin uses his staff and nimbleness to keep Zhong at bay.

Jin Linghzi's staff moves with amazing speed, striking out at his opponent's vulnerable legs. But with some amazing footwork, Lei Bao Zhong avoids the assault and manages to get right up to Jin, face to face.

Whipping his spear behind Jin, Zhong pins his opponent against himself. Rolling backwards, he tucks his feet up and vaults Jin into the air! Before Jin slams back down, Zhong has rolled back onto his feet and spins to face him!

Jin hits the packed earth hard and has the breath knocked from him!

The crowd is rioting with pleasure! Never before have they seen such two great warriors giving such a thrilling show!

Vision blurred, lungs burning, Jin Linghzi uses the last bit of his strength to preformed one last display of his skill - the Devout Six-Legged Inebriation! Swaying as a mantis he mimics, Jin defies his foe and spits a clot of blood into the face of his approaching death.

"Kiiiiiiiyaaaaaah", shrieks Lei Bao Zhong as he launches himself into the air for a second time this fight. The crowd reacts with a cheer and jump to their feet! They are rewarded beyond expectation as Zhong connects with Jin's head. In a spray of gore and mutilation, Zhong's foot passes through bone, flesh, and blood, completely atomizing his target!

Circling in the cloud of red mist, Zhong finishes his adversary with a devastating sweep of his leg, swiping the headless corpse to the ground.
