You're going to love this!
Okay the following link contains new life paths, skills, traits, and a new race. It's a draft so comments welcome. It's using the old system with a few exceptions. Tables are in Alphabetical order with an outline system for showing requisite parent paths and their offshoots.
Enjoy!

Good work, man, but I don't think forcing a character to take all the skills on a lifepath is very BW.

I feel that a core set of skills really "solidifies" a profession in my mind. Especially for the Military and Academy paths, you won't make it out of your training if you haven't grasped the BASICS of every skill the path embodies. This also eliminates the cheese factor have putting max points in one skill but being a feeb in everything else. It's also allowed me to alphabatize the skill lists. Which for me is a good thing.

I rethought my position on this and went with the original spirit of BW, I'm prioritizing the skills now.

I made an additon to the "More Human than Human" trait for synthetics. In addition to requiring double beginners luck tests for opening new skills at root they also require double tests for any advancment. The reason I did this was simple, with their accelerated training I was seeing Synths 6-7 years old outstripping characters with 30+ years of experience. The original concept of the Sythns is top-heavy with slow advancement, so this change fits that perfectly.
edit:my server is currently down so the above link doesn't work, I'll let you know when it's back up.

Server is up and running the file is now available for download and has been updated. Religous Sub-setting done (it is exactly as the BW version with some archaic professions elimated leaving only the modern counterparts). Also a few minor changes to traits. I'm also considering eliminating the Faith trait for the game as it seems too fantastic. My other option was including it and having a more Mutant Chronicles feel to the church. The only problem with this is these life paths are campaign specific and while I think they'd be a great option for a far future game I don't want them standard in mine.

So far it looks really nice. Why in MIlitary Sub-setting Sergeant does not have intimidation? (I think that shouting is their basic mean of communication).

So abzu and I have been talking and he's willing to let me have a go at running my BW Sci-fi here on the forums in a PbP game. I'd like to know who's interested.

This looks quite good. I like how you retained some of the humor from BW in this adaptation: Incomprehensible Diagnosis, Hit It With a Hammer, Giterdone . . . very nice indeed. I don't really like science fiction games as a rule, but this has me thinking twice. Please post more about the setting as you flesh it out.
(BTW: I picked up The Darkness That Comes Before on your recommendation in another thread; brilliant stuff! Thanks!)

I'm glad you like the book! As for humor in the BW I think Luke and I have that in common.
I've actually got a lot of info on the campaign some at home, some in my head. I'll get you something soon, I think you'll like it.

Here's a little taste. The history of the UN (http://www.supercommon.com/jc/unsn.html).

As you may have guessed the game will focus on space travel as well as some of the drama that's going on between earth and mars as well as some conflict between the church and the government because of it's use of Synthetics. Although I created the lifepaths to be very detailed in regards to exactly what you can play; this particular campaign will center around the crew of the search and rescue vessel the "UNSN Churchill". I'd like to optimally have about 4-6 players though smaller/larger groups are okay (no more than 8 though). You'd all be military personel and the crew would consist of a Helmsman, EMT, Mechanic, Technician, Security, Comm Spec, and Lieutenant.

How many lifepaths are you thinking of for starting characters?

No restrictions per se however there are a few guidlines. The cutoff age for admission into military service is 28 years of age, therefore any characters who have military background usually have only a few lifepaths before joining.
The crew of the Churchill should be fairly skilled so I'm willing to allow plenty of room from which to grow your character. In the end whatever makes you happy, though I'd like to review the characters before we start. If something just doesn't "feel right" I'll let you know.

Review is mandatory; all players should discuss their concepts and agendas in order to make the process go smoothly.
so sayeth the abzu,

Right boss, all characters and creation is going to be open discussion as per our agreement. So once we have all persons interested we'll start discussing the creation of the group and all characters involved. All BITs as well as stats will be known to all, I trust everyone capable of discerning the difference between character and player knowledge.

I'll be compiling some data and then continue this discussion in a new thread in the PbP section. Hopefully I can drum up a couple more players and we can start.
