Two kills for the price of one... Effeciency is the hallmark of a great man.

Who should I send my sheet/first exchange to?

Thor Olavsrud
01-16-2005, 10:52 PM
You can send 'em to me. I assume that you agree to let LordSmerf's Astride the Beast to use his wolf mount? Or are you asking for a foot battle? If you are not also mounted, you will be at a huge disadvantage, DaGreatJL.

Hah! Virgil fears nothing! The fool may bring his little pet!

Ugh. Must get some work done. I'll try to start this bout later this afternoon.

LordSmerf

Staring at my screen, pressing F5 every five minutes hoping for my chance to script got boring after a while. So I figured I'd vote for myself! Oh yeah! 100% of the individuals polled believe that the Universe itself mandates victory for Virgil the Vicious.

I come back for more gloating and what do I see? Agents of Chaos have infiltrated our peerly polling procedures! How else do you account for the fact that this unnamed fool has any votes?!

Okay! Sorry it took so long guys! I've posted your intro! LordSmerf, I believe I need a script from you.

Thor Olavsrud

Note in case you saw it before I edited, I've altered the starting Fight distance based on Kublai's formula.

LordSmerf

My script is in... the suspence is killing me... Oh, wait... that's the arrow...

I hope Virgil has a good arm! By the time he throws it, there's gonna be 60 paces between the two!

Seriously! I may have to start rolling for Roden rotten-fruit chuckers next Volley. Let's just hope none of them get really bored and start flinging Roden Throwing Knives.

Wait your own turn!

If anyone gets the credit, it will be Kublai for creating such vicious little Ratsqueaks with such horribly powerful throwing knives. :P

Huh. After Viper used his terrifying Roden Knife-Thrower for Beat Pete, I could have sworn you blamed Pete for introducing such horribly unbalanced weapons into your pristine game.

I wish to note that, as an orc, I am expected to behave in a cowardly and honorless manner, striking at my enemy from afar when I might stand on equal ground.

This so-called 'Virgil' has no such defense.
That is all.

Well now.... Looks like you've reached the end of the road. No more running away... Now, just wait right there, I've got a little present for you.

People. Why are you avoiding and sprinting? What's the point? What are the chances you'll get more than 4 successes on your Speed test to overcome the +4 Ob penalty? And THEN you have to get enough successes to actually effect your opponent's die roll.

I don't understand.

If you're trying to make it harder for a missle weapon to hit you, well Avoid doesn't help at all. Only the Sprint will modifier his Obstacle.

If you're trying to make it harder for a melee weapon to hit you, Sprinting only penalizes you by taking away Avoid successes.

You mean Speed test? :P

LordSmerf

I have no idea what you're talking about... Virgil fears no man, this "ducking" and "dodging" is clearly a silly waste of time. A real man charges forward unafraid!

So... is this fight over or what?

Thor, is it? I dearly hope not... But I'd love an answer either way, even if it is "Dang it, I'm far too busy editing this Revision to ref..." That way I'll know whether to challenge someone else to a fight to the death. Or even get a new ref...

Thomas

Kevin

I'd be willing to ref if Thor can't. I'm sure there are others who could as well.

Yep Thor will be probably busy untill wednesday. We spent spent half of saturday and whole sunday reading and correcting final drafts of revised BW together.

LordSmerf

Look man... I've got a disease, and there's only one cure: I need more scripted combat. Thor, what's the word boss? Is this fight over? Are you going to pick this back up? I need to know since I can't do anything else in the arena until this gets resolved. Help me!

Or, I guess you could just sit there and watch me squirm. That's probably pretty entertaining...

Thomas

Thor Olavsrud

I promise I'll get back to it soon. Life has been conspiring against giving me enough free time to do this. I'll try to get something up in the next day or so.

LordSmerf
03-03-2005, 10:03 AM
Oh, don't feel rushed. I just wanted to see where we stood. I was looking for "it's not over yet" or "real life indicates that you need to find a new ref or a new match". Anyway, thanks.

OY Vey is right! I was shocked to see that virgil actually struck the charging beast from 20 paces away but yet the fates were unkind and a superficial wound was not enough to stun the beast. That's going to be a whole lot of hesitating. (while being eaten alive).

Conversely that brings me to a suggestion though I'll post in it in an appropriate locale.

LordSmerf
03-04-2005, 06:41 AM
It really is too bad that I couldn't get in something better... Say a B7 Mark. That would have at least given me a chance... Well, the dice fall as the dice will.

Waitaminute!!!

I Aimed for two actions. Does that not give me -2 to Ob? And wouldn't that mean that I bet my Ob by 1 and qualify for +1 on the DoF giving my a Mark result...?

Thomas

I only saw 1 aim action prior to your Throw. Last exchange you had Lob Javelin and Aim in your Third Volley. I assumed no description was given for the Lob because you were out of range and therefore missed. You didn't need to reAcquire, because you were going after the same target. So your Aim went to the off-hand javelin, then you spent two actions throwing.

It is what it is. Carry on!

LordSmerf
03-04-2005, 11:02 AM
I blame Thor:

Virgil Volley 2:
Aim

Virgil Volley 3: (Forfeited)
Aim
Lob javelin
Movement: Stand still

Volley 3 Forfeited to:
Aim
Movement: Dash

The Lob got forfeited to change my movement for Volley 3 (and because he was out of range).

As you say, it is what it is. However, I am a bit curious, why did my Aim go to my off hand javelin?

Thomas

luke

I assumed you lobbed the other one.

Oh well, such are the game glitches when a new GM takes over.

And wow... I just realized how incredibly terrible that Steel test was. 2 Successes on 7 open-ended black dice? Arg! I'd say that the dice hate me... but I did manage to hit something.

Also, quick question for clarity: If I manage to survive the Hesitation, will I need to reaquire a target if I want to throw something at it?

Thomas

Yes, you will. I was floored by the bad results of the Steel test. I knew you were going to hesitate, but not by that much! Eesh.
