I was going to draft up a Ninjitsu MA but work has had me a bit busy (I was laid up this weekend too after hurting my back youch). The original idea I had for Ninjitusu was kinda neat, the main thing being that it was truly "utilitarian" as I think it was meant to be. A common ob5 ability for many MAs grants the ability to substitue the MA for other skills/abilities. Instead my idea was to have a whole lot of skills that you could use Ninjitsu as a FoRK for like Stealth, Throwing, Sword, Knife, Brawling, Climbing. Another abiltiy I was considering was a sort of "NINJA VANISH" ability that equates to; Break Lock and appear a number of paces away equal to your success over Lock x2.

At last... hot ninja-on-pirate action can commence!

So what setting does Ninja fall under? And what are its Leads?

What? Maybe I need to know those things in order to make my ninja pirate.

So I put it into the Outcast setting, seeing as how ninjas are all secretive and stuff.

I gave the ninja leads to Noble Court (in the service of a daimyo), Soldier (acting as scouts and infiltrators), and Villager (where the ninja clan lives and trains).

I think it should also require at least one other Lifepath that acts as the ninja's "cover identity" Or was that just all the ninja fiction I read? I thought most ninja assumed a regular life complete with "normal" profession and then acted for their clan in secret.

That's exactly why I gave them Inconspicuous. They loved to pretend to be gardeners from what I understand. I don't know if they actually knew how to do that stuff, though. Cool players like you will certainly take a "cover" lifepath, but I don't think I want to force you to take one.

at some point, there will be a complete ninja sub-setting. you'll see. Ninja training camps, Ninja spies, Ninja assassins, Ninja trainers, Ninja weaponsmiths...

oh yeah.

I had that once.... doctor gave me some cream, cleared it right up!

I'd be interested in seeing an eastern LP setting, although the Sho of my Zethuar campaign aren't complete parallels to the early chinese there are some similarities. I could probably glean enough from the examples to base them off. (Of course I could just design them all myself but if someone's already done that it'd be a bit redundant.)
