So last night I threw together a game of Burning Wheel on the fly in a different setting...

Based on the movie Equilibrium - which i highly recommend. Not original but well done with some interesting surprises.

Its a post apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that is a cross between the Matrix and 1984.

Anyway, it was a one-shot action adventure so I had to throw characters together VERY quickly (I didn't want to spend any more time than I had to before getting to shooting things).

So I had them pick a specialization and a disadvantage. Beause they were all playing highly trained operatives I said they had 5 dice in everything, 7 dice in their specialization and 3 dice in their disavantaged area.

It worked out really well, I think. There was only one problem. They want me to run it again... damnit if all my one shots never get to be one shots. What i planned as a underground siege coupled with some bad ass combats turned into a planned cultural invasion. Best laid plans...

How did you do firearms combat in the script? Did you use the Acquire/Fire/Snapshot rules?

We've done a lot of scripting with modern firearms and find it works very well.

yeah, i've got to release my notes on grenades and bombs...
Stun grenades actually do something in BW!

Although there was far less shooting and more talkinf than i had anticipated... yes, we just went with the standard pistol rules...

except that Guns FoRKed with Martial Arts and they had double their die pool to split amongst as many targets as they like :)

Clerics are bad *#@(#&$!s
