This is a lifepath I came up with for an Orc Wargmaster. Comments and criticism are more than welcome!
Black Legion Sub-setting
Name: Wolfmaster
Time: 5 years
Resources: 5
Stat: +1 M, +1P
Leads: Chattel
Skills: 4pts; Warg Husbandry, Intimidation, Command Warg, Warg-wise
Traits: 0pts; Show No Fear, Where There's a Whip, There's a Way for Wargs, Flea-bitten
Suggested equipment: Cold-forged iron chain and collar: 1RP. Muzzle: 1RP. Braided Leather Whip: 1RP.
He who Sleeps Near the Wolves requires Goblin
Show No Fear
Wild animals can sense fear, and aggressive ones will attempt to dominate those who are terrified by them.
Call-on Trait for Intimidation against aggressive animals.
Where There's a Whip, There's a Way for Wargs (Even more alliteration!)
Wolf-masters learn the value of the whip quickly.
Call-on Trait for Intimidation, Torture and Command against Great Wolves of the Legion only.
Also has the 'must obey' effect on Wolves with Taste the Lash.
Flea-bitten
When you sleep near (not with: near!) wolves, you get fleas.
Character trait.
Note: I set this lifepath up for a very specific reason. I ran a
one-shot of Burning Wheel at the local RPG club's Game Day this past
Sunday (a great success! more later). The party was a squad of Black
Legion Orcs tasked with hunting down an Elven Princess bearing a
valuable heirloom.
I wanted to have a couple of players playing Wargs, but I didn't want
them to be mounts to save on confusion and complication. I also wanted
there to be conflict between the Wolfmaster Orc and one of the Wargs,
who had taken the Wayward lifepath. Furthermore, It makes sense to me
that there would probably be a position like this amongst the Legion. I
apologize in advance for the resemblance of the title to a certain horrible
movie.
