Five years ago today we released Burning Wheel Revised.
In five years we've sold over 7000 copies of BWR alone.
We've traveled the US and Europe promoting the game.
We've introduced thousands of gamers to the Burning games.
We've played incredible games (that just keep getting better).
We've made amazing friends who will be with us for many years to come.

Thanks all for making this dream come true.
We hope to see you all at 10/10/10 so we can celebrate!

-Luke and BWHQ

Tonight, my group will celebrate by playtesting!

My thanks to all involved for such a compelling game.

Tonight, my group will celebrate by playtesting! Us, too! A perfect way to celebrate!

Also, I just realized my first taste of BWR was in 2005 at some point. Didn't realize I'd been playing that long.

Here's to many more years of great BW products!

Why does it seem that BW's been around for far longer than 5 years?

Craziness. Congrats, BWHQ!

Because we launched Burning Wheel Classic on November 1st, 2002! Crazy, eh?

I still remember the day I met Luke at Philcon demoing Burning Wheel. He showed me the fight mechanic by taking on my dwarven warrior with a goblin. I crushed his skull. Good times. I bought a copy of BW Classic and walked away thinking, "He seems like a cool guy. Shame I'll probably never hear of him again." ;)

So glad I was wrong then. So pleased to have been in on the ground floor of something awesome for once even if I didn't know it at the time.

Congrats Luke and Co. I look forward to seeing what the next five years brings.

Anyone have any tales from the 5/5/5 event?

Anyone have any tales from the 5/5/5 event?

I fell into bad larping habits during "The Nest" when I was playing the spy.

I first met Judd (Paka) playing Thor's demo in which I was sort of a dick when playing the elf. Judd had this amazing Circles test that tilted the game over.

I should really remake that scenario one of these days. Yet another thing to add to the list.

Was it 5/5/05 that ended with that marathon Serpent Sun game? Or am I conflating it with something else?

I still remember Mike and his fucking shovel in the tournament.

I remember that, I had to leave for my plane at the end of the game! I was the teenage rebel who was secretly a Face of All Fears!

That shovel took me to the top, baby! Who knew that a Bitter Grave Digger could beat all those knights?

Me and my friend, Jason walking home after the all night Serpent Sky game, at the train station, after a long stunned silence while getting there:

Jay: That game was really fucking dark.

Judd: Yeah.

Jason: I mean, really fucking dark.

Judd: Yeah.

Jay: Bye.

Judd: Bye.

And we stumbled home.

Hi all,

I just wanted to add my thanks and congratulations to Luke and the BWHQ for their game. It's been over 3 years now that I own the books but I never played BWR before last january. (In fact, I decided to buy another copy to give as a Christmas present to a friend so that I could convert him.) Since then, my gamer's brain is warping and I re-enjoy GMing ! So thanks again everyone and keep us burning !

It's comments like these that mean Luke Crane is a failed game designer. GMing shouldn't be *fun*, it should be a harrowing experience only fit for the strongest and angriest of men. Those who are incapable of leading their sheep-like players through hell and back should step aside, for the running of a game is a sacred duty reserved for those princes, no, Kings of gaming.

Hang on, Colin. You sound like one of my players, but I'm pretty sure that you're not.

I had a brief flashback to 5/5/5 the other night. Apparently I had fallen asleep and started to snore like a buzzsaw, but I wasn't aware I had fallen asleep. People started to yell at me and I woke up protesting my innocence, only to fall asleep and do the same thing again only moments later.

My roommate says I did the same thing to her on Wednesday.

I'm oozing with sarcasm there, so much in fact that I'm going to skip out on work early to take a shower. I was thinking of putting a footnote in itty bitty font saying I'm planning on picking up a second copy because my first has water damage but I figured that would be going too far :)

I'll have to find out what the current printing / errata status is and then decide if I should get a copy now or later.

Yeah man, we've had those nights too.

Yeah, it's that kind of a game. Especially when someone angers the sociopath.

Congratulations Luke! From my perspective, it's (only) been 4 years of...
Some of the best and most divisive gaming I've had the pleasure to be a involved with as well as being a part of a truly fantastic community.
Here's to New Yoik for 10/10/10 and onwards into the next 5 years!

What's all this about extremely dark one-shot scenarios? I'm all ears!
