I recently realized that I had reached a new level of geekdom when, while watching Naruto, (An anime about teen ninjas, for those of you who haven't reached my level of depravity.), I relized that BW would make the prefect system for a Sim game set in that setting.
Consequently I have been taking the pre-existing rules for martial arts and altering the sorcery Tax rules to simulate the use of chakra in some abilities. Also I am considering tying some of these altered Tax rules into some basic skills that that fit the genre but which I don't actually want to make into spells, like the classic example of ninja/martial arts lightfoot. Basically some skills learned on the ninja lifepaths would be tagged as Chakra skills and all such skills would use the Tax rules.
Example- Lightfoot- Allows for the classic acts of cinematic wire-fu movement. Traveling by rooftop or along tree lims, Ob 1. Walking up walls, Ob 2. Water, running along drawn swords, Ob 3. Falling Leaves, Arrows Ob 4. etc...
Just thought I'd share :P

Very cool!
What you describe here, is that a skill with sample obstacles, or a set of manuevers you'd learn?
If its the former then I would make Lightfoot a manuever, not a skill. In fact, I would have Lightfoor be a manuever you can get with the Jumping skill.
Welcome, Enemy!
I eagerly await some actual play/actual mechanics for your chakra-based ninja.

I was actually thinking of it as a skill and those would be sample Obstacles off the top of my head. To be truthful I hadn't considered making it a maneuver connected to the jump skill, that's verry cool.
I'm looking forward to some actual play myself actually, first thing first though have to get the lifepaths and such done inbetween my history classes.
Oh, also I was considering adding a discount for Artha for open ended rolls/epiphanies when used in a scene where the Character's loved relationships (those contacts bought for double Rescource Points) are in peril. For anyone familiar with it Naruto focuses on how these character's "Way of the Ninja" is focused on protecting their "special ones." Then again I could just include such things in Traits for the characters....

Use Instincts and beliefs.
Belief:
My cow is the center of my universe.
Insitnct:
If cow is threatend go agressive.
When you then threaten the sanctity of the cow I have an artha factory going here. As long as it is inconvinient for the character to act upon them.
Give them traits like:
Defender of the Cow, x pts, die trait.
Sworn protectors of the sacred cow of Ra Pu Ga Se. The character is sworn to defend sacred cows from all mad overlords.
I would heartedly recommmend the Persona for complication rule (http://www.burningwheel.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=385&highlight=persona) in the type of game you are planning. Aslo have you read the variant Artha rules? (http://www.burningwheel.org/pdf/artha_wheel_r3.pdf)

I wouldn't suggest giving Artha discounts because if such relationships are used to formulate the BITs, then they will be earning beaucoup artha from roleplaying. So rather than having cheaper artha usage, they'll be getting more of it in the first place.

hmmm, I remembered reading about the Artha for complications rule someewhere but had forgotten about it. As to my little Artha discount thing, blame it on too little sleep.
Other than that, in a quick update I have 3 different players coming up with appropriate character concepts so that I can work out what their schools and such would require.
Also: I divided the skills into sorcery and chakra based skills. The chakra based sorcery cannot be cast patiently or carefully and requires the use of both hands to form seals. The skills are basically akin to natural magic abilities, with an appropriate tax mechanic.
In other news, after some review of my books..... what jump skill? I can't seem to find a referrence to it anywhere...
Sorry for the slow reply, forum didn't want to work with me for a bit there.
