As a GM I would feel it my duty to add skelitons to his closet! Not necessarily in character creation but I see no problem with running scenes that become fleshed out as flashbacks where you learn stuff about your PC that might not have been there before but does not change his general concept :)

He really looks solid. There is an old Boot Hill game that deals with an election that I was going to convert to Dogs in the Vineyard. Politicians can be great characters but the campaign and GM need to support them.

Anyone up for a fantasy version of '24's first season?

Solid character, Verrain, i will see what i can do that he is not wasted. :)

I like that he has cudgel for when he has to rap his cane against the head of some bumbling servant.

OF COURSE HE WONT BE WASTED! (ahem) He's for my very political campaign "Burning Zethuar" featured right here on the boards. And Verrain he looks great.

Thanks all.

I am sure the skeletons will appear in his closet at some point. After all, that second brother doesn't spontaneously hate him I would think.

As for the Cudgel, that is almost exactly why he does have it! Not so such for beating on servants specifcally but because having canes are fashionable so why not have them useful as well?

The only part I was a little disappointed with was the last clerk lifepath. I wanted something that would be a "council member in training" kind of lifepath and that was the best I could find. It should suffice though.

Verrain, the LP you want is Minister. It's on pg. 54 in your Character Burner. Merchant fulfills the requirement.

Excellent call. I was just working on a LP to fit the bill and there it was!

I tell my players this all the time:
the system is set-up to emulate a social structure. If something does not exist then it's up to the player AND the character to either conform and "fit in" where they can or make their own way (and create a new LP).

Spring wanted a court tutor and there really wasn't a LP she was happy with. So I said either go Advisor or create a Court Tutor LP. She decided on fitting in :)

Actually, Minister was the lifepath that seemed right for a member of the council. It seemed too long with too many skills added to simply a lifepath that trained you for the seat on the council. Made my character older than I wanted too. Still, good to know I was thinking on the right track.
